Thirty-two homeowners have written about Luxe Flooring since 2021 and almost every one of them names the same person: Max, the owner, who quotes the job, explains the finish options and turns up while the crew is sanding. The company works out of Quincy — HomeAdvisor gives 73 Safford Street, Porch gives 2 Hancock Street — and both point at the same site, luxewoodflooring.net. It describes itself as having over ten years behind it, with work across Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. The trade is narrow and deep: sanding and refinishing hardwood, installing new wood, engineered and luxury vinyl plank floors, matching new boards to old, and the baseboard and subfloor work that goes with it. HomeAdvisor's project galleries run from Quincy and South Boston out to Framingham, Duxbury, Scituate, Sandwich, Hyannis and Chatham. The accounts are unusually concrete for a five-star record. A 2023 homeowner described Max arriving to expose an oak kitchen floor, spotting asbestos in the tile and adhesive covering it, and walking her through a floating vinyl plank alternative instead — a crew member named Rick got the credit for the finish details. A 2024 customer had asbestos tile covered the same way, alongside new wood matched to an existing room. A 2022 reviewer wrote that rooms were sealed off in plastic "like a biolab" to keep the dust down. Another, writing in 2022 about a floor more than a century old, chose a Bona HD Traffic finish and asked for the lightest possible sanding. Prices are quoted openly in those accounts — $550, $1,100, $1,600, $2,000, $4,200, $6,000 — and several customers say the estimate held with no surprises, one specifically noting he was not upsold to things he did not need. A licensed architect and contractor writing in December 2021 said Luxe accommodated the awkward invoicing his condo association required. The honest caveat comes from a customer who still gave five stars: writing in July 2022, he said that under a raking angle of light a little waviness is visible in places, which he put down to the previous yellowing urethane hiding the floor's flatness. He judged it invisible to all but the most critical eye. Worth asking, on an old floor, what the sanding can and cannot correct. The platforms disagree on the basics — HomeAdvisor calls the company an LLC, Houzz and Porch call it Inc; the claimed history runs from "over 10 years" to 14; and the review counters read 96, 83 and 7 for what amounts to 32 readable accounts, since Porch says outright its number is drawn from other sites. Flooring-only work is exempt from Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, so no registration appears — ask instead for the certificate of insurance, the finish product name and a written scope before the sanders arrive.
