Summit Hardwood Floors is a one-person flooring operation, run by owner Stephen Neves, who the company says went out on his own in 2020 after ten years already working the trade. He describes serving a stretch from southern New Hampshire down through Cape Cod, doing sanding, refinishing, patch repairs and new installs. Between 2023 and late 2024, a run of Google reviews described the same experience: Steve — sometimes alongside a helper named Tom — showing up on time, walking homeowners through finish options, and leaving floors reviewers called meticulous. A 2024 review recounts a Brookline condo job where old parquet floors were covered in luxury vinyl after the carpet came out, calling him responsive and professional from start to finish; another, also from 2024, said a refinish done about a year earlier still looked wonderful. That same year he also took on a couple of custom woodworking jobs outside flooring — building a desk and a set of walnut benches — that customers praised by name. The one review from the last several months, though, is a different story: a July 2026 customer complained about siding work, describing gaps around a door frame and along an entire side where panels weren't cut or fitted correctly. It's the only negative account on file and the only one this year, on a job outside the flooring work the rest of the history is built on — worth asking Neves about directly, especially if you're hiring him for anything beyond hardwood floors. For a floor that needs sanding, refinishing, or a color change, the record here points to a careful, communicative one-person operation. For siding or other exterior work, get more specific about his experience before booking.
Not impressed with his siding work. Gaps around the sides because he just didn't cut the wood right around the door frame. In another side he clearly didn't want to add another column of panels so there is a gap along an entire side. No holes in the middle of the work, thankfully...
Had my floors sanded and finished by Steve and Tom, on top of having some empty areas patched. Really pleased with the results. The work is meticulous, and the floors look great in their natural color. Steve gave me options for finishes and helped me make a final decision. Both guys were professional, thorough, timely, and communicative. Very easy to work with and definitely knew their stuff. Highly recommend and will be pointing folks in their direction.
I had my floors done by Summit Hardwood Floors about 1 year ago and I’m still so happy with how they came out. Tom and Stephen did such a wonderful job. I would definitely recommend them to family/friends!
Ask Mr. Neves to custom build me a desk and he obliged. He was timely and professional in his response. The estimate was a bit high but he was receptive in my counter offer and we agreed on a price I felt was fair. Would recommend to family and friends.
Steve was responsive, prompt, and professional. His fee was fair, and our refinished floors came out great. I would definitely recommend him to anyone hoping to improve the look of their hardwood floors!
