A 70-year-old chimney falling apart, sub-freezing weather, and two men grinding out every joint of a double-flue stack until the brick looked new — that March 2026 job is the clearest picture of what Marblehead Chimney gets called for. Despite the name, the company works out of Danvers and covers Boston's North Shore, doing sweeps, inspections and repairs. Its site describes a family business handed master-to-apprentice to a fourth generation, with Cody and Migdalia Stamm-O'Toole named as the owners after a prior owner announced his retirement; the company puts its own run at about 25 years. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 215157, is active and held in the company's own name. The written history is small but consistent — eight reviews from 2022 to 2026, averaging 4.5 on Google — and the same two first names, Cody and Andrew, keep turning up in them. A January 2026 reviewer described an inspection and a re-point; another that month credited the crew with clean, careful repair work at fair pricing. A 2024 customer made a point of saying nobody tried to upsell them. Another January 2026 comment came from a repeat client who had a large wood stove and liner installed a couple of years earlier and has had the company back several times since for sweeps and maintenance. On Reddit in 2022, a homeowner asking about a chimney rebuild was pointed to the company by someone who had used them for a re-seal and was happy with the result, though they mentioned a wait of a few weeks for an appointment. The one real complaint is about scheduling rather than workmanship: a 2022 reviewer said the company cancelled on them twice on the day of the appointment and called it unprofessional. A January 2026 reviewer pushed back on that, arguing sweeps have to call off work when roof conditions are unsafe. Both can be true — so pin down what happens if weather or the schedule slips, and how fast you would be rebooked. One other thing to square up: the site claims a standard set over 25 years, while its BBB profile — an A+ grade, not accredited — lists 14 years in business and a single employee. For a sweep, an inspection, a re-point or a liner on the North Shore, this is a small, licensed outfit with a short but unbroken run of praise for tidy, unhurried work. Book ahead, and confirm the appointment window before you build a day around it.

We used [Marblehead Chimney](https://marbleheadchimney.com) when we needed to get our chimney re-sealed/sprayed and they were booking a few weeks out for appointments, but we were very happy with the results!

My 70+ year old chimney was literally falling apart. Cody and Andrew worked thru sub-freezing cold to grind all the mortar out and rebuild the double flue exterior brick. It looks like new! Tough work, good guys , on time and a great value!

These guys installed a large wood stove and liner for me a couple years ago. They worked hard, got it done right and I’ve had them back several times since then for sweeps and maintenance. They charge a fair price and are great to work with. And to the reviewer that complained about cancellations, well sometimes conditions are not safe and they must cancel. A sweep died in Danvers recently because he was on a roof when he shouldn’t have been so try and show some respect for the risks involved, otherwise you look like a fool. Anyway, the guys are fantastic! Don’t let one review spook you. I swear by them and have recommended them to many people!!

I highly recommend Marblehead Chimney. Cody and Andrew are outstanding people (as well as their admin team), very knowledgable and their work is very neat and clean. They are a very trustworthy business, they did not attempt to upsell me and their pricing is reasonable.

What does a roof replacement cost in Greater Boston?

Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Marblehead Chimney. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.

A square is 100 sq ft of roof surface — bigger than the floor plan because of pitch and overhangs.

Estimated range

$9,000 – $18,600

Typical roofing project around $13,800
