Martel HVAC installs and repairs heating and air conditioning, and a recent Google reviewer said that when their AC went out on a 90-degree day, Nick Roy quickly fixed the issues and walked them through the possible causes and how to prevent future problems. The company's website says it has been in business 22 years. Its Massachusetts HVAC licence, 1310026939-SM-B, held by Martel HVAC Corp., is active on the state registry. A recent reviewer said Dave Connors and Tim did electrical work for them, and that Dave gave them options for their project. In a 2026 review, a customer said Tim Martel had installed their central A/C system over 20 years earlier and was called back to replace it, along with an April Air whole house humidifier, and that the crew, led by Brian, did the work with over a foot of snow on the ground. A 2024 reviewer with an older furnace and AC said the company got them scheduled quickly, and wrote that if cheaper is your priority, maybe it is not Martel. A 2026 Google reviewer gave one star after a furnace that kept shutting down several times a week. That 2026 customer said the company sent three different people on three visits, including the service manager, could not figure out what was wrong, and said the whole furnace needed replacing at about $15,000 to $20,000. The same customer said a local master plumber then found the gas valve needed replacing and said the furnace was fine, and that Martel charged their service provider for the 3 visits. The Better Business Bureau gives the company a D- grade and lists 3 complaints.
Awesome
Dave Connors and Tim were a great duo! We had a great experience with their service and electrical workmanship. Dave was very knowledgeable and gave us options for our project request which was much appreciated. Very nice to work with.
Nick Roy from Martel HVAC was amazing. Our AC went out on a 90-degree day with awful humidity, and he was incredibly helpful. He quickly fixed the issues, explained everything clearly, and took the time to walk us through the possible causes and how to prevent future problems. He was knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely kind. We really appreciated how patient and thorough he was. Thank you Nick!
Tim Martel installed our complete central A/C system over 20 years ago. It’s been amazing and largely service free. It was finally time to replace it so we called Tim. He simplified all of the different replacement options that we were grappling with and helped us arrive at a perfect solution. Simultaneously we had him install an April Air whole house humidifier. The crew, led by Brian, did an amazing job, even with over a foot of snow on the ground. The new system is perfect, the humidifier is a game changer and the Ecobee thermostat is incredible. Very customizable and maintains the house at a perfect temperature and humidity. Thanks so much Tim!
We used Martel through a service provider Our furnace kept just randomly shutting down several times a week. They sent three different people three different times including the service manager (who came on the last visit). Each time, they couldn’t figure out what was wrong. The service manager just kept harping on the fact that the furnace was old. Unfortunately, it just seemed that none of them knew what they were doing, and there definitely wasn’t any communication between them. Their ultimate diagnosis? The furnace is too old, it’s too difficult to find parts for it, so the whole furnace needs to be replaced. That would run us about $15,000 to $20,000 We demanded a second opinion, and the service provider agreed We had a local master plumber come out, who’s been in business for decades. He said the furnace is fine. He urged us not to replace it. He said he believed the furnace could easily last another 25 years. He said parts are easy to get for this kind of furnace (even though it is old), which contradicts what the Martel service manager said. And he said the furnace would need to be replaced only if it leaked water (which was not happening). The diagnosis? The gas valve needed to be replaced, and it was easy to find and easy to do. Go figure! To anyone reading, would you want these people working on your furnace? You decide! So Martel accomplished absolutely nothing and charged the service provider for 3 visits (which is likely going to get passed on to us in some way, since the service provider has limits on what it will cover). And then we have to go through the headache of paying the plumber and getting reimbursed from from the service provider. Martel, if you had just done the job right from the start, not only would you have gotten paid, you would’ve gotten credit for a job well-done and you would’ve likely legitimately made even more money, instead of bringing all these unnecessary headaches on us, not to mention that it has taken about 6 weeks to resolve this, when it all could’ve been resolved in two days If I could give zero stars, I would.
