Shahood & Sons has been doing plumbing out of Framingham since 1949, and it is still the same family. A December 2020 profile in the Hopkinton Independent traced the line: Thomas Shahood founded the company in 1949, his son Mark ran it for thirty years, and in 2011 Mark S. Shahood Jr. took over what was then a two-person operation and grew it to ten people serving residential, commercial and industrial customers across MetroWest. The Better Business Bureau's file gives the same start date of 1 January 1949, incorporation in 1983, and names Mark Shahood as owner. The company trades under the tagline "Quality & Trust Since 1949" and describes itself as family-owned.
Today it covers plumbing, heating and air conditioning — repairs, installations, water heaters including tankless, thermostats, heat pumps and preventive maintenance — for homes and commercial buildings, and it works alongside a homeowner's own general contractor on renovations rather than acting as the contractor itself. The Better Business Bureau grades it A+, while stating on the same page that it is not BBB Accredited; those are two separate things.
What customers describe is unhurried, explain-as-they-go service. One homeowner with a badly flushing toilet and very low water pressure wrote in a 2025 review that two technicians fixed both problems the same day, took time to explain the cause, "and even took some time to pet our dog." Another, who had just bought a house and wanted new toilets, faucets, a utility sink and bathroom trim, said the crew looked at a hot water heater and a slow leaking pipe, gave an honest opinion and never tried to upsell, and named Quintin and Victor for putting shoe protectors on every time they entered the house. A third described the office diagnosing a problem carefully over the phone before dispatch, then spotting a second issue and fixing it within 48 hours. Technicians recur by name across the file — Quintin, Victor, Ryan, and Caleb, who a November 2024 reviewer said "went the extra mile to explain the repairs to the existing system and the options for replacement."
On Reddit in February 2020, a Framingham resident answering a kitchen-remodel question wrote "Shahood & Sons for your plumbing, heating, cooling," and another commenter seconded it.
Two things to weigh before booking. The public review file is small and tightly clustered — eight reviews, all five stars, and all but one dated within a single month in early 2025. And price is the one point customers disagree on: a January 2025 reviewer who otherwise praised the response and the technician ended by saying the faucet repair and replacement was pricey, while a February 2025 reviewer said the opposite, that unlike many competitors they do not bill excessive additional charges.
If you want a long-established local plumbing and HVAC outfit whose technicians explain the work, this is a strong candidate. Get the quote itemised in writing before the job starts, and ask the Board of State Examiners of Plumbers and Gas Fitters to confirm the licence of whoever will be on site.
