McGilley Roofing & Construction, run by owner Tom McGilley out of Saugus, has one of the deepest written records in the corpus for a roofing outfit — 54 reviews stretching from 2015 through this year, the vast majority five stars, describing jobs from single-day reroofs to full siding and carpentry projects. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, and the BBB rates the company A+. The write-ups keep pointing to the same things: same-day or one-day roof jobs, careful cleanup, and Tom himself showing up on site. In an August 2025 review, a homeowner described McGilley's crew replacing half a roof's shingles, some rotten wood, two skylights, and a waterproof rubber membrane in a single day, at a lower price than a competing bid. In a 2025 review, another described Tom diagnosing a recurring flat-roof leak around a bathroom skylight and fixing the actual cause rather than just patching it. A 2024 review described the crew taking extra care to protect an in-ground pool during a reroof, and resolving dormer leaks that a previous contractor had been unable to fix. The record also shows some flexibility with customers on a budget: in a 2025 review, one homeowner said Tom kept coming out for repairs even though they couldn't yet afford a full roof replacement, and in another 2025 review, a customer described a storm ripping up part of their roof before their scheduled replacement — Tom came out the same day and fixed the damage at no charge, since they'd already committed to the larger job. The record isn't spotless. A 2024 review — the sharpest complaint on file — described a roof installed nine years earlier that started leaking, with other contractors identifying workmanship issues the company allegedly wouldn't address; the reviewer also said they were charged for extra wood to replace rot that wasn't properly done. A 2022 review described a smaller but real mistake: a plumbing vent removed and reinstalled during a partial reroof wasn't properly secured underneath, causing a leak within a week, though the reviewer described the crew coming back out to address it. For a straightforward roof, siding, or gutter job, McGilley has an unusually long, mostly consistent track record with the same owner on site — worth weighing against the rare account of a years-later dispute over workmanship.
I had some of my original white siding replaced that was cracked. Tom’s guys did a great job replacing many pieces and securing other pieces that had come loose. I would highly recommend them.
So happy with the service. They came and removed snow from our roof. Timely response and easy to work with. Thank you
They were very easy to deal with. Professional, on time and very clean job site throughout the project. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for their roof to get done.
Tom and his team did excellent work. Tom was responsive from start to finish and on site while the work was being done. He and his team left the work site very clean.
I've used their services several times on my own property and I always refer them to my clients as well. Fair pricing, professional staff and work gets completed quickly.
