Three holes left in a ceiling by earlier construction — Derek McNulty patched them in May 2026, and the homeowner wrote that you cannot see where they were. In February 2026 another customer said the same about the paint: new blended into old, and they personally cannot tell the difference. Customers keep describing that one skill, making the repair disappear. McNulty Builders works out of Woburn, and Derek McNulty holds the active Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 207336; HomeAdvisor lists the same number with a March 2027 expiry. Across Angi and HomeAdvisor the listed work runs to carpentry and framing repair, deck and porch repair, roof repair, drywall and concrete repair, and general home repair. He also takes the jobs that grow. In April 2026 a leak from ice build-up turned into a two-month near-gut remediation, and the homeowner wrote that he stayed communicative throughout while bringing in several sets of hands. In February 2026 a Boston client with a major water leak had him handle the roof, the electrical, the painting and the damage repair. In August 2026 a customer with several complicated exterior decks said he coordinated the other trades and finished on time and within the budget they had discussed. The small jobs get the same care. A shower bench repaired and replaced in May 2025. A chimney rain cap installed in April 2025, with the whole procedure explained first. A hardwood floor repair that same month where he came back more than once until the new paint matched the original. Punctual, quick to quote and tidy come up again and again: a March 2026 client had a quote back the same day they asked for it; an April 2026 customer wrote that he "left no trace" when the job was done; an October 2025 client said he did not call it finished until they were happy. Google sits at 5.0 across 21 ratings, Angi at 5.0 across 13 and HomeAdvisor at 5.0 across 5, and the written reviews begin in April 2025. For repair carpentry, patch-and-paint work, or a small project that might turn into a bigger one, he is a strong call — particularly when the finish has to be invisible. Ask how a job that expands gets priced, since several of these started small and grew.
Derek repaired and replaced a number of fairly complicated exterior decks for me. He coordinated other trades completed the project on time and within the discussed budget I would highly recommend Derek for all aspects of light general, construction, and rough and finish carpentry projects
Derek came highly recommended and rightly so! He patched three construction holes I had in my ceiling and made it look imperceptible. He charged a very fair price and was a pleasure to work with. He's the one I'm going to call when I need work done in the future.
Working with Derek was a pleasure. He was punctual, quick with responses to questions, polite, and “left no trace” when the job was done.
I asked Derek to come to my house for a construction consultation on a project and he was friendly, reliable, and knowledgeable! He helped me make some important decisions and decide which direction to go in. He was a great communicator, explained things in great detail and took the time with us. I would highly recommend!
Derek was fantastic to work with! What started as a leak from ice build up turned into a two month nearly gut remediation project, and we are very pleased with the outcome. Derek was very communicative, knowledgeable, and reliable throughout the process. He leveraged multiple high quality subcontractors to get the job done on time and on budget. We will definitely work with him more in the future and highly recommend to others.
