Mighty Dog Roofing of North Boston is a roofing, siding and gutter outfit run by Amar Nyamdavaa that has built its reputation on two things: catching problems other roofers get wrong, and showing up when it counts. Multiple reviewers describe getting a second opinion from Amar after another company either left a job unfinished — one homeowner was left without chimney flashing — or recommended an unnecessarily expensive full roof replacement, in one case for a leak that turned out to be a raccoon eating through the rubber membrane. The range of work reviewers describe is wide: an emergency same-day leak assessment during a snowstorm on a flat-roofed rental, three skylights replaced in a Lynn condo in the middle of winter, a full re-roof and gutter repair on an 1886 Victorian with old, uneven boards, garage re-siding, chimney removal, and roof work coordinated around an existing solar array. Communication comes up constantly — quick callbacks, clear quotes, and Amar personally checking in through the job — across reviews spanning 2023 through the middle of 2026. One thing worth asking about directly: an April 2026 review describes signing a contract and paying in mid-February for a roof repair, then having to chase the company down repeatedly after a promised two-day scheduling window came and went. It's the one account of this kind on file, standing out against dozens of reviews describing fast, reliable scheduling, but the specifics — payment collected quickly, follow-through less so — are worth raising if there's a rush job at hand. The company is BBB-accredited with an A grade, and its file lists a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration and a construction supervisor license for the business — plainly BBB's own record, so it's worth confirming current status directly before signing anything. For a roof or siding problem, especially one where a first opinion doesn't sit right, this is a well-reviewed, responsive option — just get a firm start date in writing given the one scheduling complaint on record.
Amar came out to give a free consultation. Ultimately the job wasn't a fit for them but Amar was patient, passionate, and offered some good advice.
Amar at Mighty Dog is a true professional. He is responsive, diligent, and does a great job. I’ve had several issues on my roof over the last few years. His team and him were able to timely resolve each of them. I would trust them for any future projects.
I’d give Amar 10 stars if I could. I hope this helps anyone researching roofing contractors. After another contractor left us without any chimney flashing, a neighbor recommended Amar. Since we’d already been burned once, I got quotes from five different companies, including Mighty Dog Roofing. Amar came out within 24 hours of my call and sent an estimate later that same evening. He was one of only two contractors who actually got up on the roof to inspect the damaged areas instead of relying solely on drones or a sales technician. He didn’t try to pressure us into buying a new roof and was upfront about when he believed a full replacement would actually be necessary. We were originally scheduled for repairs early the following week, but Amar called on Friday to say his team could come sooner because rain was expected over the weekend. They worked efficiently, and Amar personally oversaw the job. This entire fiasco could have been avoided if I had known to call Amar’s team from the beginning.
I would strongly caution anyone considering Mighty Dog Roofing. I signed a contract in mid-February for a roof repair. They were quick to secure the agreement and payment, promising scheduling within two days. That timeline was not honored, as I had to follow up myself after multiple days after putting down a deposit. When work was performed, it was not completed as outlined in the contract. Despite paying in full, the remaining work was never finished. I was told when I first mentioned the incomplete work “atleast you have a warranty if it still leaks” - although they breeched the contract. Over the next several weeks (nearly a month 1/2), I experienced repeated missed appointments, unreturned follow-ups, and little to no communication unless I initiated it. I spoke with Kazi (sales manager) multiple times as well as Kyle. At one point, it was suggested the incomplete work might be addressed later alongside a separate siding project, which I declined after not fully completing the first job. After many ongoing delays, I requested a partial refund for the incomplete work. I was told, after discussion with the owners (Vish), that refunds are only issued in cases involving property damage. Only after I requested a refund did there seem to be any “urgency” to return and complete the job. Although, it has now been a week and I didn’t respond as I’d rather spread reviews so no one else has this experience. During the sales process, the company shares a story about how the owners started the business after having a negative experience with another contractor and wanting to do better for customers. Based on my experience, that message was not reflected in how my project was handled. Based on my experience, the contracted scope was not fulfilled within a reasonable timeframe, and communication and follow-through were inconsistent. Once they receive their $$$, you no longer are of importance or urgency to them. I recommend proceeding with extreme caution and ensuring all work is completed to satisfaction before making final payment.
