MJB Plumbing & Heating is a one-man, owner-operated shop run by Mike out of Saugus, open 24 hours according to its site, with a self-reported 18 years in business. The company holds a 5-star average across 42 Google ratings, with 41 reviews on file spanning 2023 to 2026. Its own site says it's licensed and insured in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, though no license number is given. The recurring story is Mike succeeding where other plumbers didn't. A recent review describes him tracing frozen pipes that left a home without water for three days after another plumber couldn't find the source — he ran new plumbing on the spot and restored water the same day. In a 2023 review, a customer recounts a toilet clog that turned into a major pipe repair and replacement after another plumber misdiagnosed it; Mike, whose full name the review gives as Michael Byrne, traced the corroded and displaced pipework and finished the job correctly. Another 2024 review describes him fixing an entire bathroom gut renovation that a previous plumber had botched. Emergency response comes up constantly — a 2023 review describes him arriving at 8pm the same day a hot water heater failed, driving out to buy a replacement, and finishing the install by 11pm; a 2025 review recounts him being the only plumber, out of ten contacted, who responded to a failed basement extraction pump and fixed it the same day for someone who wasn't even a prior customer. Beyond emergencies, the work spans faucet and fixture replacement, dishwasher and disposal installs, a whole-house water filter and reverse-osmosis system (2023), gas heater component repair (2023), and — in a February 2026 review — coordinating a full main water line replacement with the city water department. There's little to flag: the last six months brought 15 reviews and zero negative ones, and none turn up anywhere in the 41-review history. In a 2024 review, an unexpected delay on another job pushed back Mike's arrival time — though he kept the customer updated with regular status checks and still came the same day as promised. The company's site describes a one-person operation, though a couple of 2024 reviews name a partner, Joe, working jobs alongside Mike. For plumbing or heating work in the Saugus area — especially a problem another plumber couldn't solve — this is the shop reviewers describe calling first, and trusting most.
We had no water for 3 days after another plumber was unable to figure out where our pipes had frozen. Mike from MJB Plumbing came out and quickly identified and solved the problem. He ran new plumbing on the spot and restored our water the same day. Mike was friendly, helpful, responsive, and easy to work with throughout the entire process. His work was neat, professional, and clearly done with care. We were so impressed with both the quality of the work and how quickly he solved the issue. We will absolutely use MJB Plumbing again anytime we need a plumber and highly recommend Mike to anyone looking for honest, reliable service.
Finding good service and even better people is very hard these days. Mike sets the bar very high. He is highly responsive, professional, does great work and is highly reliable. I've been using Mike for over 8 yrs. Anytime I've needed anything he has responded and done great work. He is down to earth and very transparent. If you are looking for a plumber or plumbing services, I wouldn't go anywhere else. I cannot speak any higher than this about him and the job he does. Gas lines, plumbing and anything else in that realm he is the guy.
Mike and his team have helped us during planned projects and emergencies, and we have been delighted with their timely, professional work. We trust Mike to diagnose and repair all of the plumbing needs we have in our home. He and his team are communicative and collaborative, and we will continue to use their services in the future for whatever may arise.
MJB plumbing and heating knows what they’re doing. I have used them several times. Scheduling is on time for when they will come to the job. Their work is clean and efficient. I am impressed with his knowledge of the trade.
Definitely recommend Mike and MJB Plumbing! Mike is a total professional, very knowledgeable, and does fantastic work. For each job that he has done at my house he fully explained the plumbing issue, went over the best ways to make repairs, and what the cost would be. He is the best plumber that I have worked with to date. Again, definitely recommend Mike and MJB Plumbing.
