Modern Edge Contracting LLC

Modern Edge Contracting is a Woburn general contractor built for the big interior jobs — kitchens, bathrooms, additions, basements, decks and new construction — across the towns north and west of Boston, from Cambridge and Newton out to Andover, Billerica and Tewksbury. The company says it was founded in 2019, counts seven years in business, and is run by its principal contractor, described as an industry veteran in remodeling and general contracting. The work it advertises is finish-heavy. Its Procore Network profile puts it in the interior trades — carpentry, flooring, painting, plaster, tile and countertops — while BuildZoom lists custom additions and renovations, and its Houzz page runs through kitchen and bath remodeling, cabinets, custom vanities and basement work. BuildZoom's page also lists $2,000,000 of liability and workers' compensation coverage through Hiscox. Houzz shows 5 stars from one rating; on Google it sits at 3 stars from two, one of which is a one-star posted in June 2026. The paperwork is the thing to settle first. The Massachusetts registry lists the company's home improvement contractor registration, #197734, as expired, and BuildZoom's copy of the licence record shows the same registration expired. The company's own site still prints that HIC number alongside an MA licence #110849. Registration is what a homeowner's protections on a residential remodel hang on, so get the current status from the state before any contract is signed. For a kitchen, bath or addition north of Boston, this is a shop whose own material describes exactly that scope. Ask for the registration in current standing, for two or three recent jobs of the same size you can call about, and for proof the Hiscox coverage is still in force.
