No customer has ever written a word about MPX Services online. What exists instead is a paper trail from building departments, and for a remodeler that is not the worst substitute: sixteen permits, pulled across eight towns, with real money attached. The Malden company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 186716, is active on the state registry. BuildZoom, working from permit records, puts it at nine years in business and scores it 101, above 88% of the 139,240 contractors it tracks in the state. The work skews to kitchens - BuildZoom's read of the permits is that kitchen remodels are the bulk of it - but the bigger jobs are structural. A new garage and master suite at a house on Lowell Road in Brookline was permitted at $279,580 and is recorded complete; a retaining-wall excavation at the same address ran $98,350. A condominium interior remodel on Auburn Court in Brookline, permitted in April 2025 at $169,218, added a half bath with new supply and drainage lines. Typical permit value sits around $43,500, and the range runs from under $5,000 to the $250,000-$500,000 band. The towns are Brookline, Lowell, Malden, Westford, Somerville, Newton, Milton and Waltham. One nice detail the customs records give up: the company imports through Milano Home Design Srl, an Italian supplier, which fits the finish-heavy end of the work. Two things to ask about. A basement renovation permit in Malden is recorded expired rather than closed out, and a Brookline demolition permit was withdrawn - both are ordinary enough in construction, but worth a plain question about what happened on each. And because nobody has published a review, insist on visiting two or three finished jobs; with sixteen permitted addresses on record, the company should have no trouble producing them.
