New England Tree Experts

In May 2025 a homeowner thanked New England Tree Experts — working alongside MM Tree Services — for taking down "Big Bertha": 55,000 pounds and over 100 feet tall. Most days the work is smaller. This is a Shrewsbury company covering Worcester County, doing tree cutting and removal, pruning, crane-assisted takedowns and stump grinding, and it says it has been at it since 2002. Greg Gicas, who owns the company, is named directly by many of the people who write about the work, usually for how quickly he answers. A March 2025 customer with a tall tree split in half by a storm called on a Tuesday morning, had an estimate that afternoon and the tree down by Saturday. A July 2026 reviewer heard back immediately, had Greg come by to confirm the scope, and the trimming was finished the next day. In an October 2025 review, a homeowner said calls and emails were answered right away and the job was booked as soon as the insurance approval came through. More than a dozen reviewers single out what the yard looks like afterwards. A 2024 customer noted the crew swept the driveway after cutting large branches off overhanging trees; in a May 2023 review, a homeowner who had three 60-foot spruces removed said the gardens, shed, driveway and house came through undamaged. A December 2021 account describes five trees lifted whole and intact from the back of the house, over the house, over the neighbor's front lawn and onto the uphill part of the street, where they were stripped, chipped and disappeared into several trucks — inside an hour. Cost comes up as reasonable in a number of accounts: a March 2026 reviewer called them one of the most reasonable in price, a September 2025 customer said the quote was more than competitive. A November 2023 reviewer described contracts and billing that were easy to follow. Bigger removals can bring in a second outfit — the 55,000-pound job was credited to New England Tree Experts and MM Tree Services together — so it is worth asking who will be on site and what equipment is coming for an awkward lift. A sensible call for a big or difficult removal near a house or wires, and for routine trimming where you want the yard looking untouched by evening. Get the scope and price in writing up front, and confirm whether stump grinding is inside the quote or billed separately.
