Nicholas J. McLean is an upper-Cape electrician — Pocasset and Bourne out through Falmouth, Sandwich and Mashpee — and his permit file is the bread and butter of modern residential electrical work: 100- and 200-amp service upgrades, panel replacements, whole-house surge protection, generator hookups and EV chargers. 85 permitted projects in all, nine of them in the last three years, including two as far north as Methuen. The written accounts number two, both from July 2016. One Angi customer called him knowledgeable and efficient, said he answered the work request quickly, arrived promptly at the agreed time, and got the job done quickly and correctly. The other, the same month, described him as personable, flexible and polite. Both recommended him. That is where the 5.0 comes from — a single month ten years ago — and both reviewers share the surname initial M., which may mean one household rather than two independent jobs. Two other things are worth pinning down on the phone. Porch says six years in business while his Angi profile claims eleven; those cannot both be right. And the Angi page gives a contact address in West Yarmouth while Porch and the permit history both put him at 68 Handy Rd in Pocasset — a move somewhere in the decade since those reviews is the likely explanation, but ask where he works from now. On credentials there is nothing here to lean on. No source publishes a licence number that has been checked against the state, and the alert and 0 score on his BuildZoom page come from the lack of a verified active licence there rather than from anything a customer said about the work. Ask him for his licence number and verify it with the state before he starts. If you are on the upper Cape and need a panel upgrade or a car charger, his permit trail says that is exactly what he does, and does regularly. Do the licence check yourself and ask for a recent local reference, because the written praise is a decade old.
