On the first day of a roof replacement in October 2024, the crew strung a barrier net across the house to keep the tear-off debris off it, and ground helpers wheelbarrowed the rest away as it came down. A commercial construction project manager, writing in January 2024 about the insulation and roof his 110-year-old house got, said the quality and workmanship met every expectation he had — and he said he sets a high bar. Northeast Home & Energy works out of Bedford and says it has been at this since 1980, a family-owned business now in its forty-fifth year, covering Boston and a long list of Worcester County towns — Shrewsbury, Milford, Leominster, Southbridge, Sutton — plus Nantucket. Roofs, siding, windows, doors, gutters, insulation and storm damage are the whole menu. Its site lists GAF, CertainTeed, Andersen and Velux installer certifications along with an EPA Lead-Safe certification, and both the site and its Houzz profile carry Massachusetts home improvement contractor number 106353, with a Rhode Island registration also listed on Houzz. Insulation draws its own run of write-ups. One February 2024 customer said the heating bill had noticeably moved within a few months of the work on what he called a difficult house. Another that month said Richard walked the house explaining what was being done and why, and a January 2025 customer said the team leader outlined the job before anyone started and every crew member knew their part. On the selling side, a September 2024 homeowner said Michael G's roof bid came in well under a competitor's and was accepted without negotiation, and a March 2025 customer credited John with steering them through a complicated insurance claim. One account runs the other way, and it is an old one. In July 2013 a Houzz reviewer said the price was the good part — and thought it might have caused the rest, suspecting the salesperson had under-bid the job and left the crew working on too thin a margin. That review is the only rating on the Houzz profile, and it still stands at 2 stars there while the 15 Google ratings average 5.0. Worth a call for a roof, siding, window or attic-insulation job between Boston and Worcester County, particularly when a Mass Save measure or an insurance claim is tangled up in it — an August 2024 customer had a last-minute Mass Save recommendation fitted into the schedule. Get the registration number and scope in writing, and ask who the foreman on your job will be.
