Pann Home Services & Remodeling works out of Cambridge on plumbing and HVAC calls — the kind of company people sign up for a membership plan with, according to a 2024 Reddit mention describing a monthly fee that covers everything from plumbing to heating to carpentry. The strongest thread across its Google reviews (4.6★ from 362 ratings) is depth of relationship: several reviewers describe multi-year histories, moving from a single AC repair toward a heat pump install and full bathroom remodel, or three years of AC service and maintenance that grew into drywall and carpentry work. Technicians get named individually and repeatedly — Alex, Shane, Ryan, Chris — and reviews keep pointing to how much time they take explaining a diagnosis before doing the work: one 2025 review compared a technician's walkthrough of a failing gas boiler to "a cardiologist for my gas boiler", and another describes a Brookline AC visit where the tech explained his findings step by step. Real emergencies get same-day turnaround too — a broken gas water heater was replaced the same day, exhaust pipes brought to code in the process, in a 2024 review. The pattern worth asking about before booking is pricing on smaller jobs. Multiple 1★ reviews describe being steered toward a pricier fix than requested: a 2023 review recounts a roughly $400 quote for a bathtub faucet that should run $15–50, a 2022 review describes a $3,000 estimate to install a single shower rod, and a 2026 review describes an upsell push from a simple flush-valve swap toward replacing the whole toilet. A second thread is fees stacking up before any repair happens — a 2025 review describes a $69.95 dispatch fee plus a $180 diagnostic fee not explained upfront, and a separate 2025 review describes a $420 diagnostic fee for a leak that was never actually fixed. One reviewer also reported four unreturned follow-up calls after requesting an estimate. Pann is a reasonable call for routine plumbing and HVAC work — repair, maintenance, water heaters, boilers — especially for someone who wants a technician who explains the fix. Before approving an estimate on a small fixture job or a membership, it's worth pinning down the itemized quote and the dispatch/diagnostic fee structure up front.
“Pann Home Services did a great job. I pay them a monthly fee for a discount on whatever I need done, including plumbing, heating, carpentry, house painting, roofing...”
Excellent service - quick response time, Alex is a skilled and friendly service technician, who gave a clear explanation about what needed doing.
The Pann team, including Ryan and Alejandro, did an excellent job fixing and providing maintenance to our air conditioning system. They were prompt, knowledgeable, and professional. They answered all of my questions. Highly recommend.
While we felt very loyal to Pann for a while (we've used them for almost 3 years now) because we liked some of their technicians, we've been disappointed recently and are planning to cancel our membership with them: 1. We had our AC serviced last week and **the technician caused a gas leak** by accidentally bumping into our furnace and causing an issue with the pipe (and not saying anything about it so my partner and I noticed the gas smell several hours later) 2. We had an appointment today with them to check on another piece of our AC and no one showed up 3. A technician came to fix the gas leak yesterday and left abruptly, leaving our garage door open in the middle of Somerville/Cambridge; 4. We had an AC exhaust project done by Pann in which the solution was not up to city code so they were required to redo the whole thing. All in all, we really wanted to stick with Pann--they are generally reliable and nice people--but the issues have piled up and it's gotten to a point where we want others to know. Sad to leave but the recent gas leak caused by one of their technicians was unacceptable. We are lucky things were resolved before anything major happened. *And* we paid $1500 for that servicing....
Needed our AC units fixed. Pann was quick, professional and did a fantastic job
06/05/2014 What a wonderful day I had meeting Mike K. from Pann Home Services. My request was to have a carpenter arrive this morning and was scheduled for 9:00AM. I was contacted by Mike at 8:30AM stating he was on his way. Mike arrived on time, greeted me with a warm smile and a handshake thanking me for scheduling a service call. Once Mike entered my condo he put on his booties and listened to my issues. He was extremely knowledgeable and offered suggestions on how to approach each issue. I truly enjoyed meeting Mike K., you can tell he really enjoys his profession; he speaks very highly about the Pann Company, and meeting him today, has convinced me that I found the perfect full-service company to meet all my needs. Thank you, Connie Palmer --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 06/09/2014 Mike K. did a wonderful job coordinating a BIG project today requiring removal of kitchen appliances and re-install new appliances. He also coordinated a plumber to install the dishwasher at the same time, as well as doing carpentry work. This project took the entire day with a crew of four from PANN. All employees were very helpful, pleasant and very professional. This project was very difficult because I had prior work done that entailed new kitchen counter tops and flooring from Home Depot. The job was so poorly done by Home Depot, that PANN had to take extra time to resolve all issues and obstacles they encountered with reinstalling new appliances. Mike K went above and beyond to make sure things were running smoothly, and at the end of the day, everything was perfect, a job well planned and executed, outstanding clean-up and I was able to close the door behind me with a feeling of accomplishment. And I owe it all to Mike K., for making it happen. This man is more then just an employee; he knows the value behind Customer Service. Thank you, Connie Palmer _______________________________ 05/27/2026 Thank you for sending Nick Curtis, today to service my HVAC system.
