Paul's Carpentry Workshop has been run by Paul Morse out of Stoneham since 1986 — the BBB lists it as an A+ accredited business since 2008 — and today it carries a 4.8-star average across 22 Google ratings, with jobs spanning small furniture fixes to full room renovations. Recent reviews show that range. This year, one customer had Paul sand and stain a deck and fix a problem he spotted along the way; another had him finish a basement with a new bathroom in Winchester, calling it beautiful; a third had a moving-sale desk refinished and even delivered to a storage unit. In a January 2026 review, a customer of five years called him their go-to contractor, describing a recent project that added a whole new bathroom alongside a full bathroom renovation. Older reviews fill out a long, mostly consistent record. In 2025, customers described him fixing a leaning old garage at a fair price, rebuilding basement stairs he called outstanding, and solving a tricky window-sill problem after a new kitchen backsplash left a window that no longer fit. In a 2024 review, a customer described him rebuilding a porch and proactively suggesting rot-resistant materials after noticing potted plants had been damaging the old one. Reviews as far back as 2008 describe storm door installs and iron-to-redwood railing replacement, and a 2021 review described him rebuilding drawers from a set of 1915 built-in cabinets rather than doing a quick patch job. The one sour note is a 2023 review calling the company rude and unprofessional, with nothing else like it anywhere else in the record before or since. Paul's Carpentry Workshop looks like a solid fit for both small carpentry fixes and bigger room renovations — bathrooms, basements, decks and porches — backed by nearly four decades in business; worth confirming current pricing and schedule directly before booking.
Paul was great not only did he do a great job sanding and staining my deck he saw a problem and fixed it. I would say that he not only does good work but also listens to what you want and need. Phillip N
Paul remodeled my basement. Put a nice bathroom in for me at my house in Winchester! Beautiful!
I was moving and was trying to sell my, desk but no buyers, so I decided to have it refinished. I contacted Paul, he gave me a reasonable price and picked it up almost right away. I got my desk back last week and it came out great. Paul delivered it to my storage unit and even helped me get it up to my unit . Great guy and easy to deal with. Would highly recommend.
We have worked with Paul for 5 years! He is our go to contractor for home projects. Most recently he renovated our bathroom and added a whole new bathroom. This was a big project and he and his team did a great job, right on tine! He is responsive and easy to work with. He listens to your ideas and also shares his own with his deep knowledge of New England homes. If we have a project in mind, we call Paul!
Knowledgeable, friendly person. Neat, efficient work. Would hire him again.
