Eight years with the same pool company is unusual, and a Franklin-area homeowner said exactly that in a 2024 review of Pool Pals — same crew, same pool, year after year. That is the shape of this Franklin company's customer list: weekly-maintenance households who stay put. Its Better Business Bureau listing describes the work as service, maintenance and repair for both in-ground and above-ground pools. What customers keep describing is the weekly rhythm. A 2024 customer laid it out plainly: the crew comes every week, adjusts the chemicals, vacuums, and communicates; another 2024 reviewer liked getting photos once the cleaning was finished. A homeowner seven years in, writing in 2024, said they never miss a week. Reviewers also tend to name the person rather than the company — Justine, Matt C., Steve, Mike — which usually means route technicians who stay on the same pools. Speed of response is the other through-line. A homeowner writing in April 2026 got a callback five minutes after leaving a message and a technician out the same day; a 2024 customer described email replies arriving within minutes. In July 2026, a customer who found a major crack at the peak of opening season credited Brad and the crew with jumping on it instead of pleading a full schedule. New owners in particular say they were coached through the basics — two separate 2026 reviewers bought houses with pools they knew nothing about and described being walked through the care. Two things are worth raising before booking. The most recent review posted, dated July 31, 2026, comes from a Norfolk household who says a replacement salt cell went in and the system did not work — in their telling it had obviously never been tested — and that the proposed fix meant more parts and considerably more money. A 2024 first-time owner made a related complaint about a paid pool opening: the vacuum included in the package did not look like it had happened. A third one-star review, from May 2026, is not about pool work at all; it describes an aggressive-driving incident and a roadside confrontation. Both 2026 one-stars arrived within the last six months, a thinner and more mixed stretch than the 4.8 average across 293 Google ratings would suggest on its own. Pool Pals fits a homeowner who wants somebody on the pool weekly and would rather not learn water chemistry themselves. If you are booking a season, get the opening scope in writing — specifically whether the vacuum is included — and if the job is equipment work like a salt cell or a heater, ask that it be run and shown working before the truck leaves.
Here is our recent experience with your staff in Norfolk MA. Service was completed to replace the salt cell. System didn't work. It was obvious it had never been tested. Christopher recommended another path that required additional service/parts - VERY expensive solution. My husband replaced a dollar fuse, and the system worked. We had a separate service request. The work done was not what was originally discussed (much less this time) The invoice arrived 20% higher than what was communicated via text, with NO detail (just flat fee) We asked for the invoice detail We received an invoice with two lines (service and parts) The parts line item did not reflect the parts used. It totaled $165 and had generic "parts", several of which were not even used (valve). The service hours did not reflect the documented time invested. Christopher stated he would agree to revising the invoice to reflect what he had listed originally in the text to my husband, as a "favor". He would not revise the estimate to reflect the actual work done or parts used. I stated that I simply wanted to pay for the job completed - parts and labor. I have all of this in writing via text. And, we tried to give him many opportunities to correct the invoice without any negative assumptions. In the end, we paid our invoice but are frustrated with the experience.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Brad and the team at Pool Pals went above and beyond. A major crack was discovered at the height of pool opening season, it would have been easy for them to say they were too busy to help. Instead, Brad jumped right in and was relentless in making sure everything was taken care of. He worked tirelessly to clean the pool together with Rich at Neptune Pools it is repaired. His professionalism, responsiveness, and commitment to helping us were exceptional. Outstanding responsiveness and customer service like this is hard to find. I wholeheartedly recommend Pool Pals to anyone in Hingham, Cohasset, or anywhere on the South Shore. You simply won’t find a better team.
I would recommend Pool pals to anyone with a pool. We recently hired pool pals because we know absolutely nothing about pools. Justine and the staff are wonderful and all have patience of a saint.
We recently moved into a new home that has a pool! (First time pool owners here, yay!) As excited as we were for summer to roll around so we could finally enjoy our new pool, we were equally as nervous and intimidated by all we had to learn in regards to pool care/maintenance. One of our neighbors that has a pool recommended we give Matt Colace (Southern Franklin) a call as he's done a great job for them over the years. I am SO glad that we were sent his way because he has been such a huge help to us already. He opened our pool for us a few weeks ago and everything went perfectly. We have chosen to go the route of maintaining the pool on our own throughout the summer but Matt was kind enough to give us a training on what we need to do each week, how our equipment works, etc. - and also said that if we had any questions we can call him anytime. Well I can tell you that he's true to his word, because I've already had to call him twice and he has immediately answered or gotten right back to me. I've probably asked a few pretty dumb questions but he's been incredibly helpful guiding us through this new adventure. He even found time in his busy schedule to make a quick stop at my house to make sure everything was looking as it should and it provided me great peace of mind. Not only does he really know his stuff, but you can tell he is just the type of person who wants to make sure people are taken care of. We plan to use Pool Pals for our opening and closing service going forward and will be recommending them to anyone looking for pool services!
Cutting off my girlfriend in traffic, brake checking her, then accosting her to the point where she had to pull over and call the police is a great way to get a one star review. Absolute clowns.
