A May 2026 reviewer had their circa-1797 home painted with the repairs folded in; in 2024 reviews, homeowners in Salem's historic districts described a full strip-and-reside on a 200-year-old house — three layers of siding off, new sheathing, house wrap and clear cedar clapboard — and a 1790s antique kept up over years of painting and trim reconstruction. Sean O'Connor owns the company, which is based on Washington Street in Salem and works the North Shore; the site claims somewhere between 25 and 30 years in business, depending on which page you read. The Google record is 4.9 from 69 ratings, and the same two project managers carry it. Wesley da Silva is named in review after review for prompt quotes and crews that stay on the job — a January 2026 reviewer who spent 25 years as an architect and bid out roofing, painting and gutters separately said Wesley's crew was never pulled off their tricky roof; another had a wooden deck rebuilt in TimberTech composite after a thorough proposal. Aldemir Freitas runs the painting side: a 2024 reviewer whose full repaint, new gutters and 30 feet of ant-damaged sill plate came in close to two other bids chose Preserve for its size, and got hand-brushed rather than sprayed paint through a heat wave. Repeat customers are common — one has used them for exterior painting for over 15 years, another for well over a decade across two properties, a third came back after six years for a wraparound porch. Two things to know before calling. A May 2026 reviewer never got a quote or a reply despite repeated texts and emails. And in a 2022 review, a homeowner said the crew insisted on scraping rather than sanding a year and a half earlier, the front of the house was now peeling in many places, and messages about a fix went unanswered. On licensing, BuildZoom lists a home improvement contractor registration for the company as inactive and a painter licence as expired in 2021 — a directory's record, not a verified one, so ask to see current registration for roofing, deck or siding work. A Salem redditor in July 2026 said Preserve did a good job painting their three-story building. A solid choice for exterior painting with carpentry repairs, a deck or porch rebuild, or a period-correct restoration on the North Shore. Confirm the registration, ask how prep will be done on a peeling surface, and get the project manager's name in the contract.
