Preserve Services is a Salem exterior-renovation company — painting, carpentry, roofing, siding and decks — with a customer base that keeps coming back: several reviewers describe hiring the company repeatedly over six, ten, even fifteen years. Sean O'Connor is named as owner on the company's own site, and project managers Wesley da Silva and Aldemir Freitas show up by name across dozens of reviews. Google shows a 4.9★ average from 69 ratings. The written record, 42 reviews from 2021 through mid-2026, leans heavily toward detailed, specific praise on older and historic properties: a c. 1797 home repainted with care, a full exterior renovation restoring original details on an 1869 house, and, in a 2024 review, a major restoration on a 200-year-old house in one of Salem's historic districts where the homeowner said Preserve was the only one of three bidders to respond promptly and professionally. Carpentry work runs alongside the painting — deck rebuilds, trim replacement, and in a 2024 review, replacing about 30 feet of ant-damaged sill plate — and a handful of reviews describe full roof replacements bundled with gutter or siding work. A couple of things are worth asking about before signing. A recent review reported the company never followed up on a quote despite repeated texts and emails. In a 2022 review, a customer said Preserve chose to scrape rather than sand before painting, the paint has since peeled in multiple spots, and follow-up requests to fix it went unanswered. Separately, BuildZoom carries a license number for the company with conflicting details on the same page — a painter license shown as expired in 2021 alongside a home improvement contractor registration marked inactive — worth confirming directly rather than relying on that listing; the company's own website also states two different figures for its years in business (30 vs. 25). For painting, carpentry, or restoration work on an older or historic home, this is a company with a long, mostly excellent track record of returning customers — just get current license status and prep details (sanding vs. scraping) confirmed up front.
First class! Redid our screened in porch and we are thrilled. Knowledgeable. Cleaned up the site everyday. Honest. I would definitely use their services again! Very impressive
Preserve Services did an outstanding job painting my c. 1797 home. They handled the repairs needed with skill and expertise, and Wesley da Silva (my rep) explained the whole process clearly, and always returned my calls promptly. They left the site immaculate as well. Extremely happy with Preserve Services and would definitely use again! Leo G. - Andover, MA
Never followed up with a quote or responded to my texts/emails despite multiple attempts
Preserve Services did an outstanding job restoring and painting our shingled house. Every time I looked at the progress they were making I saw them doing extra little touches. They did the work the way every homeowner would wish: with attention to detail. Great cleanup too, and a more than fair price. Highly recommended!
I highly recommend Preserve Services! We worked with Wesley Da Silva at Preserve for the replacement of our roof and gutters/downspouts and for exterior painting. Wesley was amazing to work with. He was always available and responsive and managed the crew expertly. Our crew was never pulled off of our job and worked consistently until the job was done. We have a tricky roof/house and the attention to detail by Wesley and his crew really surpassed our expectations. I worked as an architect for 25 years and got several bids for three separate parts of the work: roofing, painting, and gutters/downspouts. While Preserve didn't give us the absolute lowest price when totaled (though close to it), I'm so happy that we trusted that the quality of work would be worth the small additional expense. Going with a company that could competently handle all aspects of the work (as opposed to hiring separate painters and roofers) was the way to go. Just a note about scheduling: every good contractor I've ever worked with has been very busy. This meant delaying the work by a year but I am so happy that we did. I've seen reputable contractors do work in the wrong season for the sake of fitting in as much revenue as possible, but Wesley was very wise in scheduling our work to make sure the different components were done in the correct weather. 6 stars out of 5.
