Prevett Oil has delivered heating oil, propane, and diesel out of Westwood since 1953, and the company says it's still family-run today. It's built for the fuel-delivery call as much as the furnace repair — its BBB listing covers heating oil and diesel delivery alongside AC and heating equipment installation and maintenance, and it says it covers a wide stretch of towns around Norfolk County, from Dedham and Canton out to Franklin and Medway. BBB gives it an A+ and lists it as accredited since 2002, but the picture on Google is rockier: ratings there average 2.5 out of 5 from 11 reviews, and two complaints keep recurring in 2023, 2025, and 2026. One is driver conduct — a 2026 reviewer said a truck was clocked well over 100 mph on Route 95, and a 2023 reviewer said they reported a driver to the state police. The other is the phone: 2026 reviewers describe staff as rude or combative, including one delivery-fee dispute that got heated and another where a caller said staff first took a card payment, then claimed none was received and threatened legal action. A March 2026 review recalled a much older episode — years earlier, the company reportedly turned away a customer's mother because she could pay only $50 toward a $100 delivery minimum. The technical side reads better. An August 2026 review called the service reliable and well organized, and in a January 2025 review a customer credited a technician named Blake with tracking down a failed motor for an aging air handler instead of pushing a full replacement. A January 2024 review from a five-year customer described the company responding when their furnace stopped working outside normal business hours while they were away. Worth confirming before booking: the company's Massachusetts HVAC license, checked against the state registry, has expired, so ask directly about current licensing and insurance. And given how often driver behavior and phone manner come up in recent reviews, it's worth asking who you'd actually be dealing with on both ends of a delivery. For an established Norfolk County oil account, the underlying repair work has real defenders — but the customer-facing side has drawn enough recent, specific complaints that it's worth going in with eyes open.

Whoever from this company was just driving on 95 South, you're going to kill someone. Driving over 100 mph, and swerving between isn't going to end well. Nothing can be that much of a rush.
I know this was many years ago, but this particular experience has always stuck with me. This company refused service to my mother when I was really little because she only had $50 for oil and they told her point blank they would not come out for less than $100. It was a very tough winter and I will never forget having to bathe in the kitchen sink with water being heated on the stove. I just looked up the cost of heating oil for back then and it was a little over $1 a gallon. I can’t believe this place is still in business 🙄
The worst nasty customer service ever.. We have been using Prevett for over 30 years. Today I called after noticing I was very low on oil to see if I can get a delivery. The lady on the phone was so rude telling me I would have to pay a delivery fee of $150 because I called them on Wednesday and they deliver in my area on Tuesday. I literally live 8 mins away and they want to charge me almost half of what I would be paying for oil. This should be illegal. They showed zero compassion they didn’t even care it’s pay the $150 or have no oil. Then when I told the lady to send the oil on Tuesday I would go without heat until than and in the meantime I would look for a new company this lady had the nerve to hang up the phone in my face. By far the worst company EVER
Lady on the phone all she does is yell at a PAYING CUSTOMER. Takes your card information on the phone and then claims there’s no payment and threatens with an attorney. No professionalism at all. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Horrible business and hire new phone operators who do not hate their job! If you want to be screamed on the phone like a child, feel free to call this company.
