Two trucks, one day, and the heat's back on — that's the story that keeps repeating around Prime Build & Comfort. The Whitman company sells and installs replacement air-conditioning systems and heat pumps across Greater Boston and the South Shore, handling Mass Save rebate paperwork along the way, and its Thumbtack profile puts it at four years in business with 114 hires. Speed is the through-line. A homeowner whose AC quit with a burning smell had someone at the house the same day and a new unit in within a week; another called about a boiler and got the same-day visit, the problem explained, and no push toward a replacement they didn't need. In February a customer wrote that a 20-year-old system finally died in January and the crew swapped it "in a very timely manner" for less than expected. Robert is the name that recurs — the one who shows up, diagnoses, and texts afterward to check the work held. The written history is short and uniformly bright: 90 Thumbtack ratings averaging 4.9, 23 Google ratings at 5.0, seven on Angi at 5.0, all of it from 2025 and 2026. Worth reading with a clear eye — Thumbtack's own distribution shows 2% at 3 stars and 1% at 1 star, and several of the Google five-stars are posted by other contractors describing job-site coordination rather than by homeowners who hired them. The thing to pin down before booking is licensing. The company's own site prints "MA HIC #217227" and an EPA 608 Universal certification, but neither its Thumbtack nor its Angi profile publishes a licence number. One Thumbtack customer wrote in July 2026 that they'd seen a review saying the company wasn't licensed, asked about it, and were told the company doesn't post licence information publicly for security reasons; that customer says permits were pulled and inspections passed on their furnace and AC install. Its Angi blurb also describes work done "in partnership with our licensed HVAC contractor." Good call for a same-day heating or cooling failure, or a straightforward system replacement where the Mass Save rebate matters. Ask them to show you the HIC registration and the licensed HVAC contractor of record in writing, along with who will pull the permit, before you sign.
Very professional, answers calls right away, punctual and they did a great job
Great job , i call and they came in the same day they and they replace my AC, and furnace in one day , they even let me use a portable ac to use it
I originally called them just for a duct repair at my summer house in Rhode Island. They did a great job fixing the ductwork, and after seeing how professional they were, I decided to have them replace my furnace and AC system as well. Before moving forward, I came across a review saying they weren’t licensed, which honestly made me a little nervous. I asked them about it, and they explained that they don’t post their license information publicly for security reasons. They pulled all the required permits, passed the inspections, and handled everything the right way. The installation went smoothly, the crew was professional, and the system has been working perfectly. I definitely recommend them if you’re looking for honest, reliable HVAC contractors.
They did a great job!!!! Install was fast and on schedule. Very good customer service too! I recommend them highly!
Less than 24 hour response time with a next day visit scheduled! They were extremely thorough, taking the time to review and discuss our entire AC system. Will be hiring again if needed!
