SCOPE: My project was a full rehabilitation of my home’s first floor, involving major plumbing, electrical, and framing changes after asbestos abatement brought the space to bare studs. BACKGROUND: I have strong knowledge of home construction from structure and framing, to electrical, plumbing, drywall, insulation, roofing, flooring, and tilework with some hands-on experience in all. I observed much of their work daily after my day job as a construction observer. I don’t believe a simple star rating can express the full experience, so below is my detailed breakdown. I’m very happy I hired them. – 5★ SUBCONTRACTORS Plumber Sub – 4.13★ (Limited Personal Interaction) • Professional, respectful, open to questions. – 5★ • Made one critical and one minor error but responded immediately and corrected both. – 2.4★ • Excellent basement piping layout. – 5★ Electrician Sub – 4.9★ (Limited Personal Interaction) • Professional, respectful, quick to respond. – 5★ • Functional, well-planned layout. – 5★ • One lighting issue (possibly damaged wire), but handled promptly. – 4.7★ Kitchen Sub – 4.94★ (Significant Personal Interaction) • Beautiful modern kitchen design. – 5★ • Professional, respectful, quick to respond, and proactive with design questions. – 5★ • One cabinet mis-dimensioned in complex layout; resolved quickly with a rush replacement (~3-week lead). – 4.82★ Drywall Sub – 4.5★ (Limited Personal Interaction) • Clean, professional, respectful work. – 5★ • Accidentally cut a wire (fixed by Penfield & Electrician). – 4★ Wood Flooring Sub – 5★ (No Personal Interaction) • Gorgeous floors, tight seams, flawless finish. – 5★ Tiling Sub – 5★ (Significant Personal Interaction) • Professional, respectful, quick to respond. – 5★ • Beautiful tile craftsmanship. – 5★ • Always confirmed design and layout choices before placement. – 5★ Painters Sub – 4.97★ (Limited Personal Interaction) • Clean, fast, professional; colors perfectly matched requests. – 5★ • Painted details others often skip (above door trim). – 5★ • One minor paint spot on glass shade, easily cleaned. – 4.9★ Insulation Sub – 5★ (Limited Personal Interaction) • Installed closed-cell spray foam on first floor, mineral wool in ceilings and interior walls, and rigid foam in the basement exactly as requested. – 5★ FINAL THOUGHTS: R.G. Penfield & Sons is an outstanding general contractor with exceptional workmanship, organization, and professionalism. Their team and chosen subs deliver quality and reliability across every trade. Every interaction, question, or concern was handled with integrity and care. The finished result exceeded expectations, and I would confidently hire them again. Overall Rating: 4.82★

Couldn’t be happier with RG Penfield and Sons, they contracted and stick build our custom home from bottom to top. Great communication, very professional and excellent work quality would hire again!

They put a front porch on our house. It came out fantastic.

They did a great job putting on my siding, gutters and garage door. The following year we damaged a window sill putting in an air conditioner and they returned to fix it in a couple of days, during their busy time. They are very thorough and professional.

They are the best... Very knowledgeable people. They do it right the first time. Very particular in the work. Great group of guys.
