Ranucci & Sons HVAC is a North Billerica shop built on a story that keeps showing up in its reviews: the company people call after someone else couldn't, or wouldn't. The business describes itself as second-generation and family-owned, with owner Richie Ranucci a second-generation HVAC mechanic who worked alongside his late father for over 20 years before starting the company. Google shows a 5-star average from 67 ratings, and the Better Business Bureau lists it as an A+ accredited business. The pattern of being the fallback that delivers shows up repeatedly. In a 2024 review, a homeowner whose contractor had abandoned a duct-rerouting job described Richie arriving the same day to finish it the right way. In a 2023 review, someone with a manufactured home damaged by animals said it was hard to find any contractor willing to take the job at all, until the crew came in on a Sunday morning. When AC units failed across the region over a Memorial Day holiday in 2024, one reviewer described every other company as backlogged with no timeline, while Richie started his day early to fit them in. And in a 2023 review, someone called on the coldest day of the year, with the schedule already overloaded, and he still came out and got the heat working. The recent record backs that up: nine reviews in the last six months, none negative, describing prompt same-day and next-day repairs, mini-split installations, and AC replacements. The Better Business Bureau profile lists a Massachusetts Plumbers and Gas Fitters license (#7051) and a Board of Building Regulations and Standards license (#923) for the company — those are the Bureau's own records rather than something independently checked here, so it's worth confirming current status directly with the state boards before booking. There isn't a documented complaint anywhere in the record to weigh against all this, which is unusual for a shop this busy and worth keeping in mind as one part of the picture rather than the whole of it. For a furnace, mini-split, or central air job in the North Billerica area — especially one another company turned down or dropped — this is a crew with a specific reputation for taking on the jobs others won't. Confirm license status directly with the state and ask about scheduling, since several reviewers describe a business that books up but still finds a way to fit in urgent calls.

Great service
Our central air conditioning system broke down during an heat wave after many years of use. At the recommendation of a friend we called Ranucci and Sons. They were so helpful. They scheduled us for a service call right away and just two days later replaced our central air system. The crew, Sean, Dana, and Maynor were terrific. They were very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. We couldn’t ask for better. I would highly recommend this company.
