Reliable The Fence People works out of Woburn, and the name keeps coming up unprompted whenever someone on a Massachusetts Reddit thread asks who to call for a fence — a pattern the platform numbers back up: 4.7 stars on Google across 1,090 ratings, the same 4.7 on Angi from 401, and an A+ grade from the Better Business Bureau. The jobs described range from a single gate hinge fix to a full-yard rebuild mixing 50-plus panels of privacy, baluster, and picket sections in three different styles. What shows up again and again in the reviews is speed and follow-through. Vinyl and cedar-stockade installs are described as wrapped up in a single day, crews hauling away the old fence the same visit; one Woburn customer's Reliable fence, put in about twenty years earlier, was reportedly still standing when they called the company back for an unrelated repair, and several reviewers said they'd used Reliable more than once — for a second property, or to come back and fix a gate. That volume is current, too: 106 reviews landed in the last six months alone, on top of 874 logged since 2019. It hasn't all gone smoothly, and the rough spots worth knowing about cluster recently. A review posted this past May described a fence built without the required permit, over the six-foot height limit, with the crew unable to confirm the property line with neighbors before police were called. A separate May review reported gate latches that broke within a year and said follow-up support afterward was poor, and an April 2026 Reddit thread carried a similar warning — pulling out an old fence allegedly cracked a foundation, with a gate the poster called a botch job. Further back, a 2024 review described a $450 charge to fix a shortfall caused by a measuring error, and a 2023 review reported an unexpected subcontractor crew and being overbilled for labor. None of that is typical of the volume above, but it's recent enough to raise directly: confirm who's pulling the permit and staking the property line before work starts, and get the warranty terms on latches and hardware in writing. For a standard vinyl, cedar, or wood fence install or repair around Greater Boston, the track record is the real draw — just don't skip those two conversations.
“Just reached out for a quote under reliable fencing . com. It shows up as Reliable Fencing The Fence People. Friendly vibes, ty!”
“Couldn’t disagree more. They broke my foundation while pulling out my old fence and did a botch job on installing my gate. OP do not hire them!”
“Reliable fence does great work”
“Got quotes from Boston, JC, and James Patrick. Driving around I’ve seen a lot of Boston, reliable, patriot and James Patrick. James’s consistently look the best by far to me, patriot and Boston seem comparable, reliable is pretty consistently the worst look to me. James’s quote was the most expensive by quite a bit. Boston’s quote was reasonable, but JC beat it. They also used pounded posts instead of digging (they drive a metal post about 6-8 feet into the ground and then fit the vinyl post over it), which should be much sturdier and less susceptible to frost heave. It was also way faster. Went with them and they were great. Highly recommend.”
“I had a great experience with Reliable too.”
Reliable installed a beautiful vinyl picket fence for us in the front, and a sleek and durable chain link fence for us in the back. They had some solid advice as we were trying to decide on a final product and checked in with us often during the installation to make sur wer were happy. The prices were great and the installation was flawless. We have been enjoying our new fence for a few months now. Danny and Cleo from the Vinny group at Reliable are amazing. I can't recommend them enough!
We had an emergency fence repair needed as we had to take down part of our fence to do work in our backyard for an upcoming backyard wedding. Reliable fence had installed our fence about 20 years ago and it’s still standing today with no issues. So we naturally called them to see if they could help us out and it was very short notice. They knew that we had this important family event and they went above and beyond to help us out - Even with it being the start of the busy season. The quality of the work was fantastic and we were ready for the big day.
Reliable Fence Did a great job. The pricing was reasonable, the work was flawless and everyone involved in the process was very professional. Would definitely recommend them.
