RemodelWerks sells the drawings before it sells the build. A September 2025 client describes several design meetings and 3D renderings that helped them settle details on an addition; another that same month went through a few rounds of ideas and 3D drawings before landing on a design. The Shrewsbury firm, whose named principal is Joe, handles kitchens, baths, basements, attics, additions and whole-house projects across MetroWest into Boston, and its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active. The bigger jobs are where the write-ups get specific. In a December 2023 review, a homeowner listed a gut renovation with an addition, a switch from oil to gas, new electric, a changed roofline and a redesigned internal layout — essentially every inch of the house. An October 2024 client described a six-month renovation and expansion of a New England cottage that kept the cottage feel. On Houzz in December 2023, a property owner said they had used the company for no fewer than ten projects, from a bathroom gut renovation that won a design award to a roof repair and a kitchen; another Houzz reviewer that month said the kitchen and dining room were finished when promised. Process is what repeat clients name. An August 2025 attic-remodel client had previously worked with two other Shrewsbury-area remodeling companies and said RemodelWerks managed the project best of the three; an October 2025 reviewer valued that the first phone call was not a push to sign a contract. Its Houzz page lists 12 Best of Houzz wins and NARI-certified remodelers, and the firm took the 2019 Chrysalis Award for Remodeling Excellence. The design phase is also where both complaints land. A December 2025 reviewer called the design fee the company's revenue stream and described the sales side as making promises it did not keep. A December 2022 client, who posted the same account on Google and Houzz, called the experience an almost textbook bait and switch after an initial basement estimate, and the Houzz page frames that review as a dispute over a design-phase deposit and an estimate increase. Both objections are about the distance between the early number and the later one. If you want a remodeler who designs in 3D before anyone swings a hammer — an addition, a kitchen, a whole-house gut — this is the process reviews from 2022 through 2025 describe. Before you pay the design fee, get in writing what it buys, whether it credits against the build, what the allowances cover, and how the price can move between the estimate and the signed contract.
