Ross Company Inc. is Robert Ross's own shop in Haverhill. He started out in his family's business, worked as a lead refrigeration technician and then as a construction foreman at Market Basket, and built the company from there; his own site puts him at more than 20 years in the trade. The work is commercial refrigeration and HVAC — service, maintenance and installation for restaurants, supermarkets, convenience stores and other businesses across northeastern Massachusetts and southeastern New Hampshire. Most of the people who hire Ross run equipment that cannot be down for long, and that is what the reviews are about. It holds a 4.9-star average on Google from 22 ratings. In a July 2025 review, someone at Fantini Bakery wrote that Ross has supported them for years, responds quickly when they have had to call for emergency service, and has kept them up and running consistently. Another customer from the same summer has commercial units on the roof they could not afford to replace, and says Rob has personally made sure those units keep operating even though it is a small account. A third has worked with the company across multiple locations for more than six years. The day-to-day jobs customers describe are ordinary and done properly. Two August 2025 customers had the same week's work: one says Ross came out quickly to service their AC and the technician was knowledgeable and polite, the other had the company in for maintenance on AC equipment. In a July 2025 review, a customer who had been through several HVAC contractors says Ross came in and corrected the mistakes the others could not find or fix. Another from that month says the crew takes pictures throughout the job so you understand what the problem is and can follow the repair. And in a note sent to Robert Ross in July 2022 and posted as a review, a restaurant owner wrote that after years of breakdowns and costly repairs with a previous company — and guests lost to the heat — the air conditioning was running well in the middle of a very hot summer. One thing to settle first: the company describes its customers as restaurants, supermarkets, convenience stores and other businesses, so ask whether your building and your equipment are the kind of job it takes. The area it publishes reaches Amesbury, Newburyport and Beverly in the north and Waltham, Somerville and Burlington to the south. Ross is a strong call when refrigeration or cooling has to be kept alive rather than replaced, and when you want the owner himself on the account. Ask how an after-hours failure is handled and whether a maintenance program can cover your equipment.
