Ross Company Inc. is a commercial shop first. The people writing about them are restaurant owners, bakery managers and facility managers — the equipment in question is walk-in coolers, rooftop units and ice machines, not a house furnace. Working out of Haverhill, the company covers commercial refrigeration, commercial HVAC, ice machine service and preventative-maintenance programs across northeastern Massachusetts and southeastern New Hampshire. Robert Ross owns and runs it; the company says he came up through a family business and then worked as a lead refrigeration technician and construction foreman for Market Basket before starting his own firm, and claims more than 20 years in the trade without naming a founding year. The Google page sits at 4.9 across 22 ratings, and the nine reviews on file — spread from 2022 through 2025 — run uniformly positive with no dissent anywhere in the set. The pattern that repeats across that history is diagnosis over replacement: businesses describing repairs that cost a fraction of what another company had quoted, and maintenance relationships they have kept renewing for years. Emergency response comes up nearly as often, which matters when refrigerated product is on the line. It is a consistent record rather than a deep one. Nine reviews is a modest sample, it leans almost entirely on Google, and there is no independent third-party grade behind it. The company is a Haverhill Chamber of Commerce member. The thing to settle before you call is fit. This is a business-equipment contractor, and every piece of evidence points at commercial work — if you are a homeowner looking for a furnace swap or a ductless mini-split, ask directly whether they take residential jobs at all. If you run a restaurant, market or small commercial building in the Merrimack Valley or southern New Hampshire, they are squarely in their lane, and a maintenance agreement is the form most of their customers seem to use them in.

I have been a long standing customer of Ross company. Since the first day, even with being a small account, Rob personally has supported the efforts in making sure that my business has working systems that can be maintained. We have commercial units on the roof that if they go, we would not be able to afford to replace them, and he has made sure that they have continued to operate effectively and efficiently. He has also come in and corrected mistakes that less capable companies had caused. I highly recommend this group as genuine, good people who charge a fair price for work that does not have to be done twice.
