Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup is the Boston-area location of the national Roto-Rooter company, offering 24/7 residential and commercial plumbing, drain cleaning, and water damage cleanup out of an office on Franklin Street in Boston. According to its own website, the national company has provided plumbing and drain-cleaning services since 1935 and this location is locally managed by Andrew Berg. It holds a Massachusetts plumbing license, number 2604-PL-C, registered to G.W. Chapman Inc dba Roto Rooter Inc, which the state registry currently lists as expired; the business's website separately lists an individual license number, MA MP:15534, that is not verified against any registry. The business is a Better Business Bureau accredited member with an A+ grade. Review volume is very large — over 800 reviews across eight platforms dating back to 2022, with 81 in the last six months alone. Recent and past reviews frequently name specific technicians (including Ron, Ronnie, Sokol, Shawn, and others) and describe fast, same-day or emergency response, including a late-night sewer backup call. Set against that, a recurring theme across several years of reviews is dissatisfaction with pricing — hourly labor rates, add-on charges, and quotes that reviewers describe as steep relative to the time a job took, including one instance in a 2026 review of a $620 charge to replace a customer-supplied faucet and, in a 2024 review, a described $450-per-hour labor rate. One 2026 reviewer described a poor initial visit that a manager personally returned to resolve the following day.
