Despite showing up here under house painting, this Newton-based company does one specific thing and does it very often: decks. Founded and led by Michael Kaloutas, Seal A Deck's own site describes itself as specializing in deck sealing, staining, repair and restoration, plus fence restoration and teak furniture refinishing, serving Boston, MetroWest, the North and South Shores and beyond. One reviewer, after comparing three companies, called it the only one they found that "only maintained and installed decks, period" — everyone else treated deck work as one line among many. The written record runs from 2022 through today across five sources, with 10 reviews in the last six months and none negative. Specific jobs described include a 30-plus-year-old fir deck refinished after the owner assessed it from photos and satellite measurements rather than an in-person visit; a mahogany deck neglected for five years that the homeowner assumed would need costly wood replacement but instead just got cleaned, sanded and resealed; a pool deck "worse for wear" brought back without a full rebuild; and a homeowner who'd tried and failed at DIY power washing, sanding and staining before calling them in for a porch floor, teak patio furniture, and a cedar outdoor shower. The picture isn't perfectly uniform across platforms, though: Google shows a 5.0-star average from 47 ratings, but Angi lists the same company at 3.5 stars across 49 ratings, and no Angi written reviews explaining that gap turned up in the record here — worth checking Angi directly if that split concerns you. Separately, the BBB's listing gives a Salem, MA address while the company's own site and its Google listing point to Newton; likely just a mailing-address quirk, but worth confirming the current location before booking. Seal A Deck is a strong call specifically for deck, fence, or outdoor wood-furniture work — sealing, staining, repair, restoration — rather than general house painting, especially for a deck in rough enough shape that a full rebuild feels like the only option.

The workers were on time and very thorough and explained the entire process. On day one they cleaned the deck. Several days later they returned to sand and finally stain. The deck looks great. We are very happy with their work and would recommend Seal A Deck to anyone looking to improve their deck.
I searched Google for deck refinishing, and invited 3 companies to quote refinishing our 30+ year old fir deck. The first 2 companies sent someone to my house to look at the job but one barely spoke English and the other seemed to know nothing about decks and just took pictures and made a few measurements. I spoke to the owner of Seal-a-Deck on the phone and he said he didn’t need to visit the job, but asked for a few photos and said he could take measurements from satellite images. He was extremely knowledgeable and clearly explained the process they use. Seal-a-Deck’s quote was very reasonable and I awarded them the job. The scheduling was very easy and the job was done professionally. The deck and railing look terrific. I would strongly recommend Seal-a-Deck!
We needed to reseal and stain the deck of our meeting house and found Seal A Deck on line. Turned out to be the PERFECT CHOICE! Contacting other companies we found that they maintained decks as part of a larger list of work. Seal A Deck was the only one we found that only maintained and installed decks, period. Their crew was first rate, and were able to work with us on specific time lines and days when the work could be done. Finished product looks amazing, like we have a brand new deck! Our project manager Keri Becker was professional and always available to answer questions and to assist. Over all a great experience! Well done Seal A Deck! We could not be happier
Very pleased with my overall experience with Seal A Deck. They provide an excellent team approach that yielded a very positive outcome, ie, consult with Geoff, handoff and coordination via their project manager Kerri, and spot on performance from Danny and his team with the prep and staining process. The entire team is very professional, polite, and accommodating - a job well done from start to finish!
Very professional, communication was awesome and they did a beautiful job! Our deck looks amazing and the process was so easy!
