Customers mostly write about Jeff Chin, who the company says owns CertaPro Painters of Newton, a locally owned franchise in Newton, Massachusetts. It holds 4.9 stars from 146 Google ratings and an A+ from the BBB, and its operating company, OLJASA Inc., holds an active Massachusetts Minority Business Enterprise certification. The jobs lean residential with a lot of patching mixed in. In June 2024, a homeowner described about six days of exterior work that started with a pressure wash, replaced woodpecker-damaged and rotted wood, then primed and painted, on budget with no cost surprises. An August 2024 customer had water damage in the bathrooms patched and repainted in a day, plus entry columns painted while the crew was there. A January 2025 customer in an old house said closets with thick, cracking paint that likely contained lead were covered with new sheetrock rather than scraped. Other reviews cover a whole exterior with a deck and fence in June 2024, a fence staining in December 2025, a condo building's front and side in July 2025, and a Boston conference center's event space in March 2025. Some jobs went wrong. A February 2025 reviewer said the painters had to come back three times to finish one room, with mistakes and misses, though Jeff was understanding. In a November 2024 1-star review, a customer said the main reason they hired Jeff was advice on why a ceiling hole was there; within a year of the patch the problem was back, and he showed no interest in helping when they called. An April 2023 customer said a 9 a.m. appointment was pushed to 9:30 by phone, and nobody had arrived by 9:45. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #198035, held by OLJASA Inc., is active on the state registry.
I really enjoyed working with jeff and his painters They were respectful of my request for communication and setup a group text They are hard workers and take pride in their work I would highly recommend them for your project
Jeff was patient, accommodating, and so organized. The spring discount really helped! Gonzalo and Jose and team were meticulous, and attentive to our needs and goals for the project, and just lovely people we would trust with another r project in the future. Our kitchen cabinets look factory delivered- it’s incredible. And the rest of the house is beautiful. Thank you!
Jeff was very prompt and knowlegable. He gave us an estimate to paint 2 bathrooms and refinish a bathroom cabinet. He came with his team the morning they were scheduled to do the work, so nothing was lost between Jeff and the workers. The workers were very capable and polite, and the work was done on time as estimated. It was a perfect customer experience.
Jeff and his team did an odd job of installing wall mounted home gym equipment on my cinder block wall in my garage. They assessed all the pieces that needed to be mounted on the wall and obtained the necessary supplies to ensure safe and successful install. Gustavo and Jose we very careful and meticulous throughout the entire process and I was very happy with the final product. Thank you CertaPro!
Great job doing commercial work overnight, very thorough and well priced. Thank you!
