Shevcon is a framing business before it is anything else. Dmitry Shevchenko and his brothers Mikhail and Anatoly started framing on the New Hampshire seacoast in 2004, the company says, and brought the work to the Boston area in 2012, where Shevcon was founded. The company describes itself as family-owned, doing custom home framing, exterior carpentry and remodeling. The listings line up with that. Its Better Business Bureau page, which carries an A+ grade, gives framing and new home construction; Angi lists framing, additions and exterior trim, along with Spanish-language service. This is the trade that puts up the shell and the outside carpentry, often working for a builder or for a homeowner running their own project. Dmitry is the public face of it: a 2017 Boston Voyager piece introduced him as the Waltham builder behind the company, and podcast listings carry his name alongside Shevcon Custom Homes. One thing to settle first — the company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #178462, is expired on the state registry. Ask whether it has been renewed before any residential home-improvement work starts, and get the certificate of insurance and a written scope.
