Solid Home Inspections is a family-run, one-inspector operation in Strafford, NH, led by owner Richard Leavitt, a Certified Professional Inspector who says on the company's own site that he's been inspecting homes across Maine and New Hampshire for 14 years. His New Hampshire home inspector license, #00377, is active on the state registry. A 2026 review — the only one in the last six months — describes Leavitt as thorough and informative: pointing out projects that need attention now versus later, suggesting companies that could help, taking photos, and following up on questions afterward. That mirrors older accounts: a 2022 review called him thorough with great communication, and two 2017 reviews independently described him as punctual, courteous, and accommodating of scheduling. The record isn't spotless. A 2016 review — a real, dated account worth knowing about even though it's older — described the inspection as a good value with useful feedback, but noted the inspector's own outlet tester wouldn't fit some outlets, so the homeowner ended up testing half of them by hand with a lamp. Another 2016 review, more positive, called him thorough and knowledgeable. Both Angi and HomeAdvisor list the same NH license through March 2028 and an InterNACHI Certified Professional Inspector credential, along with pest, radon, septic and water-quality inspections alongside standard residential inspections. One quirk worth flagging: both platforms' business-highlight badges claim 20 years of experience, while their own About-us text — and the company's official website — put it at 14. A reasonable call for a standard home inspection in the Strafford, NH / southern Maine area, backed by an active state license and a mostly consistent, thorough track record; if the scope includes outlet testing, it's worth confirming the equipment is in working order beforehand.
“Solid Home Inspections LLC”
Very informative. Provided info on projects that need to be done now & in the future. Provided companies that would assist with projects. Followed up on questions, took pictures & explained issues & what might happen if not corrected. Very personable & professional
He had great communication and was very thorough. I would definitely recommend to others.
Richard was punctual, pleasant, thorough and showed a great deal of experience at inspecting.
Richard who came to help us out was very courteous and professional, and accommodating of our schedule.
Overall a pretty "solid" job. Best price out of the several quotes I received. Provided a lot of useful feedback. However, I ended up testing half of the outlets myself by plugging a lamp in because he "couldn't" insert his device into them.
