Stone Depot has been cutting stone in Dedham since the turn of the century — the company says it started in 2000, and its BBB record puts the business start at January 2001. What it is, in practice: a showroom with a fabrication shop behind it, where you choose a slab, they template your kitchen, and the same shop cuts and polishes it. Cabinets, sinks and tile come from the same counter. The praise, when it comes, is about speed and the people at that counter. A customer writing in December 2024 had a kitchen countertop replaced within three days of booking and singled out the woman at the front desk for patiently walking them through the stones and the rates. In November 2021 another went in set on black quartz, was steered instead to a black granite already sitting in the warehouse that cost less, and had the template done the following week. A long-standing client, writing in January 2022, described a harder job — cutting a new sink opening on-site — handled by staff they named. Then there are the remnants, where the same part of the business goes wrong twice. In a November 2025 review, the most recent account on file, a homeowner buying a fireplace hearth said the remnant was cut short after three visits to the house, that the wood floors had to be changed because there was not enough stone left to redo it, and that no discount or remedy was offered. In October 2024 another customer said a remnant they had reserved by email in mid-July had been sold to someone else by the time they called in October to book a template. A January 2022 reviewer wrote only that the door was always locked and the phone went unanswered. The written record has also gone quiet — the reviews on file run 2021 to 2025 with nothing since. Google's own page sits at 4.5 across 35 ratings, so most customers leave happy; the trouble is concentrated on one thing. For a full slab you want fabricated and installed by the same shop, this is a sensible place to start, and it is a family-owned showroom by its own description. If your job hangs on a remnant, get the hold confirmed in writing with a date, and confirm the finished dimensions before anyone cuts.
“I went to Stone Depot to select a hearth for my fireplace. I provided the measurements and selected a remnant. Stone Depot came to my home three times during the course of my renovation. In the end, they cut the remnant short and we ended up having to change the wood floors as they did not have enough of the remnant to do it over. I over communicated to them and they still got it wrong. I was left to choose another stone or deal. They made no attempt to alleviate the situation or provide a discount on their mistake.”

In the end, terrible customer service and I will not recommend them to any of my friends. customer beware
Absolutely exceptional service from start to finish! Installation was a breeze for their team and my wife and I are amazed at the final result. Would give ten stars if possible!
Very satisfied with the job. We replaced our kitchen countertop. When we went to check the countertops as to the business, the lady at the front desk did an amazing job in walking us through various countertops and their rates. She was very patient and friendly. They were very quick to install the countertops after we booked the appointment. Everything was done in 3 days. The new countertops look really nice and elevated our kitchen.
They did an amazing job with my kitchen. It looks great and their prices are hard to beat. The employees are very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this place.
I notified Stone Depot in mid-July that I wanted to reserve a stone remnant in their warehouse. The salesperson confirmed that she would put this stone on hold for me since I did not yet have a project date from my GC. I then sent a confirmation e-mail to Stone Depot expressing my desire to reserve the stone, along with my vanity measurements. When I went to schedule a template appointment with Stone Depot in early October, I was notified by my salesperson that they had sold the remnant I’d thought I’d reserved to someone else. Her excuse was “We thought you were no longer interested because it had been too long.” When I asked her to clarify Stone Depot’s time frame for “too long” she was unable to provide an answer. I also never received a courtesy call from them inquiring about whether I was still interested in the stone before they sold it to someone else. Had they notified me, I would have had plenty of time to pick out a new stone instead of having to scramble and purchase in one day, from another vendor, whatever was available. It’s too bad they lost me as a customer – I have a kitchen project up next that will require at least two full-size slabs.
