Stuart Glass has been fixing and installing glass around Boston since 1957, when Leo Driben and his son Roger started it as Royal Glass Service; when Leo retired in 1988, Roger incorporated the business under his own middle name, Stuart, according to a 2009 newspaper account of the shop's history. Now based in Dedham after years in Brighton, the company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active on the state registry. Reviews describe the shop handling glass work most contractors won't touch: replacing panes in 1950s casement windows in the middle of winter, recreating the historic moldings around a vintage front door's beveled glass after a tenant broke it, and enclosing a bedroom into a glass-walled office. Office manager Lana comes up by name again and again for going out of her way on tricky jobs, and one longtime customer says they've followed the company from its old Brighton location rather than switch to someone closer. A 2025 review described an emergency storefront glass repair where Stuart Glass was the only one of three companies called that actually came out to take measurements, and beat the other two on price. One 2022 review is worth noting: a customer said the initial experience was good — a detailed quote with several options — but ran into a credit-card issue when it came time to place the order. For custom or emergency glass work — storefronts, older window sash, glass enclosures — Stuart Glass has decades of specialized experience behind it. Given how much of the praise centers on specific staff like Lana and Hector, it's worth asking who'll actually be handling your job.
“A father and son, Leo and Roger Driben, started Royal Glass Service in 1957. Roger’s middle name was Stuart. When the father, Leo, retired in 1988, Roger incorporated the business, renaming it Stuart Glass.”
I had an emergency glass repair for my storefront. A neighbor recommended them. I called three companies, and they were the only one to come to my store and take measurements. They were also the lowest price and did an outstanding job with the installation. I would highly recommend them.
I had a broken window just being fixed by Stuart Glass Inc. Lana was a great help and very patient as I need this to be done at my site because the window is heavy plus it is stucked and I couldn't take it off. They showed up fast and come to fix it fast too. They also priced honestly. Lana is super kindly, friendly and professional. I am very happy with their service. Thumb up.
This is my second time using Stuart Glass. Lana (office manager) is a gem and the crew who did my installation were professional, courteous, and craftsmanship was excellent. They installed a glass door for my master bathroom and enclosed a bedroom/office with glass. The responsiveness for scheduling and obtaining a quote is a 4/5, but I didn't let that affect the overall rating. I'll use them again in the future and I already made referrals.
Thank you Butch and Lana for your great work and thoughtful communication. The new window looks perfect and the incredible clean up was a bonus.
Needed to have some window panes replaced in our 1950's casement windows on an upper floor. A difficult task made harder by the cold weather. The workmen did a great job and were super pleasant.
