One name shows up in nearly every review of this Reading company, and it isn't the company's: Cliff. He's the one homeowners describe sanding out scratches, matching stain colors, and sweeping up at the end of the day — and Superior Hardwood Floors is very much a hands-on installing and refinishing outfit, not a showroom. HomeAdvisor lists it as a hardwood flooring installer and refinisher working out of 19 Winter Street in Reading, with 40 years of experience by the company's own account and free estimates. The work splits cleanly in two: laying new hardwood, and bringing tired old floors back. Recent customers describe both. One had new hardwood put in this spring and called the estimate process simple and the pricing fair for the quality, with the crew finishing on time. Another hired them to refinish two rooms and said the stains left by a previous owner's pets largely came out, done quickly and at a competitive rate. A third, living in a historic house they describe as "a little uneven and wonky," wanted work that kept to the era of the home and got it. Someone else had scratches from a carpet installer's cut marks sanded away. The detail that keeps recurring, though, is dust. Refinishing is a filthy job, and reviewer after reviewer this year raises it unprompted — minimal dust, everything kept clean throughout the process, the room sectioned off so it didn't spread. For anyone refinishing floors in a house they're still living in, that's the practical thing to weigh. The history behind it runs deep and stays consistent: 41 reviews spanning 2018 to 2026 across four places, including a 5.0 average from 99 ratings on HomeAdvisor, where the company also carries the site's Approved badge, and a 5-star Google profile. Nothing negative surfaces anywhere in that span, which is unusual enough to be worth stating plainly — the praise runs to craftsmanship, punctuality, and fair pricing, from both first-time and repeat customers. A good call for hardwood you want installed, sanded, patched, or refinished — particularly in an older house where new boards need to blend into what's already there. Two things to settle before booking: get the quote in writing after the walkthrough, and ask how the crew plans to contain dust and seal off the rooms if you'll be staying put during the job.
