Kemco Floors gets hired when new wood has to disappear into old. A May 2021 customer had two water-damaged sections to replace in a floor that had been discontinued; after numerous tries, Kemal found a match. A January 2024 homeowner had the kitchen floor, steps and landing rebuilt and said the new work blended seamlessly with the rest of the house. The company works out of Reading and covers the Greater Boston area, installing new hardwood, parquet and engineered floors and refinishing, patching and staining existing ones for homes and commercial spaces. Its site describes a family-owned and run business building its experience since 1994; the BBB page names Kemal Colakhodzic as president and records three employees. Most of the written history sits on HomeAdvisor, where 101 ratings average 4.8. The 25 accounts on file run from 2018 to early 2025, with the bulk of them written between 2018 and 2020. Price is the subject that comes up most: nine of those 25 mention it favorably — a 2023 customer who hired the company repeatedly on a 5,000-square-foot home called it reasonably priced, and a March 2020 homeowner said the quote beat every other one. A December 2022 reviewer had already fired one flooring contractor and called the difference in quality marked. Scheduling draws the same kind of comment. That January 2024 customer said the crew came exactly when promised; a September 2018 homeowner said the men showed up and finished when they said they would, sanding, staining and sealing the main stairs and railings, and fixing the homeowner's own DIY attempt on the first few steps as part of the job. In February 2025, a homeowner wrote about having old wood floors stained and refinished, calling Kemal communicative and the crew punctual and efficient. The exception is a September 2019 job: the team did not initially complete the project as agreed, and it took the homeowner a few calls and messages before Kemal sent them back. Worth knowing too that the HomeAdvisor profile offers free estimates but no warranty, and lists no emergency service. For a hardwood install, a refinish, or stair work in the Boston suburbs — especially when new boards have to match a floor you are keeping — Kemco is a sensible call. Get the scope in writing, and settle before the crew starts what counts as finished and who comes back for the last few details.
