Taylor Electrical is a one-person outfit working out of South Boston — the website describes Taylor as owner-operated, with no subcontractors, doing 10+ years of residential and commercial work around Greater Boston. The jobs that turn up in reviews are the kind other electricians skip: a single wall light, a wobbling ceiling fan, a smart panel monitor for a condo association. The specifics vary in size. One condo owner needed an Emporia Vue panel-monitoring system, and the licensed-and-insured requirement from the HOA got sorted alongside the installation. A late-night Beacon Hill call got a response in about 15 minutes when the regular on-call electricians were unreachable. Multiple reviewers mention swapping out old, noisy ceiling fans and comparing Taylor's price favorably against other Boston-area quotes. A handful of reviews describe working with "the team" rather than Taylor alone, which sits oddly next to the no-subcontractors claim on the website — worth a direct question if you're weighing a solo operator against a crew. The written record here is short — 25 Google reviews, all from the past year and a half, with a cluster concentrated in a two-day stretch in February 2025 and a slower trickle since. There's no negative account on file. For small, one-off electrical fixes or a panel-monitoring install, this is a reasonable call; for anything larger, it's worth asking directly whether the job is done solo or with help.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Taylor Electrical. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
Standard receptacle swaps — a new dedicated circuit is a bigger job ($350–$750).
Flush mounts, pendants, chandeliers — hung on existing boxes.

Had an electrical issue to my home recently and was concerned. Called several electricians to no avail before I found Taylor. He showed up promptly, and ensured me that everything was going to be okay. As someone who barely knows anything about electrical issues, he was very informative of the process and assured me that I had nothing to worry about. The price was reasonable and honestly, I was prepared to pay a lot more than what he quoted so I was really happy with the overall service. Would definitely recommend. 10/10!
Super professional and fast. Taylor is responsive and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend.
Taylor arrived on time, called ahead, and was very professional. He replaced my old wobbling ceiling fan with a new one I bought online. The fan works perfectly and quietly. His fees were reasonable compared to other quotes in Cambridge. Highly recommend!
Taylor helped me install an Emporia Vue 3 Electric Panel Monitoring System on my condo’s electrical panel. I needed someone who was licensed and insured to comply with my HOA requirements, and Taylor met those qualifications. I also wanted someone who communicated professionally. His rates are very competitive. Most importantly, he was honest, trustworthy and thorough in ensuring the installation was completed entirely before he finished the job. I would recommend for any job.
Taylor showed up promptly within the timeframe he promised and he also called before arriving. He was very professional and swapped an old ceiling fan with a new one I had purchased online due to the old one wobbling as the engine sound was vibrating through the walls! I was desperate that hot day and quotes to install anything in Cambridge, MA have sky rocketed. Taylor's fees are competitive but still more affordable than the price gouging going on these days. The new fan is working marvelously with no sound! Thanks Taylor!
