A recent Google customer cautioned others about using Taylor HVAC after an air handler replacement that, they said, never cooled their condo. That customer said the company made multiple expensive repairs over the summer, including a motor and fan replacement and multiple refrigerant charges of about $3k, but the AC kept breaking. They said Taylor HVAC then recommended an air handler replacement of almost $9k and completed it, yet left the condo multiple times claiming the AC was fixed while days later it was still in the 80s indoors. In an update, the same customer wrote that Taylor HVAC put the air intake in the wrong place, so the air return from the house did not go through the cooling and heating coils. They said that when the outside heat pump started making loud noises, they called Joe Taylor and Taylor HVAC asking for help and were told the company would not return to assess the problem until the air handler install was paid in full, and that the external compressor then blew. That customer also wrote that Taylor was no longer returning to complete the job, "ran off with the large advance deposit" and was demanding even more money. A Massachusetts HVAC licence, number 330-SM-M1, in the name of Joseph H Taylor, is active on the state registry.
*** Update *** Wow - it’s even worse than I thought! Taylor HVAC completely botched the air handler install - they put the air intake in the wrong place so the air return from the house did not go through the cooling/heating coils. That’s why it never worked! Taylor HVAC told me that it works fine and I just had to run it so I did but it never cooled the condo. Then the outside heat pump started making loud noises. I called Joe Taylor and Taylor HVAC begging them to return to help but they said they would not to return to assess the problem until the air handler install (which they botched and never worked) was paid in full! Then what happens - the external compressor blew. What a nightmare! ***Prior*** Taylor HVAC made multiple expensive repairs over the summer (motor and fan replacement, multiple refrigerant charges ~$3k) but the AC kept breaking. They then recommended a large and costly air-handler replacement (almost $9k) as the solution to make the AC work. They completed the large air handler replacement but the AC still was never cooling the condo. They left the condo multiple times claiming that the AC was fixed and that we just had to let it run but days later it was still in the 80s indoors. Now they blame other system parts making me wonder if the big expensive replacement was even necessary and they will not take any responsibility. We’re left with costly repairs and a major replacement that remains nonfunctional while Taylor is no longer returning to complete the job they agreed to do and ran off with the large advance deposit. Now they are demanding even more money and the whole process feels to me like extortion. This has been a frustrating and disappointing experience and I would caution others about using their services.
