The Original Floors

Two boards replaced, the floor sanded to bare wood, three coats of water-based polyurethane — and, the homeowner made a point of it, virtually no dust. That was a June 2025 job for The Original Floors, and it landed on time at what the customer called a fair price. The company is based in Hyannis and describes itself as a Cape Cod flooring contractor: hardwood refinishing, custom staining, and vinyl and laminate installation and repair. Its site dates the work to 2018 — about eight years, by its own count — and says the business is owner-operated. Barnstable, Bourne, Plymouth, Falmouth and Yarmouth are among the towns it lists for service. On Google it holds a 5-star average across 14 ratings, with written reviews running from 2023 into 2026. An April 2026 customer had first-floor hardwood refinished and new hardwood laid in the kitchen, and said the job moved quickly. Celso turns up by name in three of the reviews — in the June 2025 one he replaced the boards and did the sanding himself, and a September 2025 review walked the whole sequence, from the first contact with William through the visit and the estimate to the sanding and the staining. Not all of the work is indoors. Two reviewers in 2025 had mahogany decks refinished, one of them five years old, and both said the deck looked new afterward. Two October 2024 reviews say much the same about tidiness, one describing the house handed back clean with the new floor in. A 2024 homeowner mentioned getting photos as the project went along, and questions asked up front about exactly what was wanted. If you have tired hardwood, a floor to replace, or a deck due for sanding and staining, this is a fitting call for an occupied Cape house where dust and schedule matter. Before booking, settle which finish goes down and how many coats, how long before furniture can come back, and get the estimate, the schedule and proof of insurance in writing.
