Tip Top Roofing Company reads like a specialty roofing shop, not a broad remodeler. The company’s own site centers slate roofing, copper fabrication, metal roofing, tile roofing, snow and ice removal, and roof repair from a Methuen base, and says the owner personally oversees each job site. The strongest credibility checks are formal rather than review-heavy: its Massachusetts HIC registration is active, BBB gives the company an A+ grade, and BBB lists accreditation since March 6, 2014. BuildZoom also lists the business at 67 Hampstead St with a BZ Score of 105, 44 roofing projects, and 213 other projects. The homeowner review trail is much thinner. Google shows 4.0 from 4 ratings, and the available reviews run from 2024 to 2025; none are recent enough to use for current job details under the six-month cutoff. The older review mix includes both detailed praise and a negative complaint, so the rating should be read cautiously rather than as a settled pattern. There is also a history mismatch worth asking about. The website says the company was founded in 2011 while also claiming 41 years in business; BBB lists 43 years in business and a business start date in 1983. Before booking, ask who will supervise the job, what warranty applies to slate or copper work, and which business history or license details should appear on the contract. They are most relevant for homeowners who need slate, copper, metal, tile, or roof-repair work and want a contractor with an active Massachusetts HIC registration. Confirm the scope, schedule, and follow-up process in writing, especially because the public review count is small.

Don repaired our slate roof and also replaced some EPDM rubber roofs on our house as well. I had gotten other bids for the job but Don stood out by far as the most knowledgeable and had fair prices. In addition, he guarantees his copper work and made suggestions on how to properly maintain our roof in the future. Him and his crew took their time to ensure the job was done right and kept us updated along the way with pictures. Overall, he comes highly recommended to anyone needing their roof serviced.

We had a couple leaks in our roof, and Tip Top Roofing did an outstanding job with fixing everything that was needed. Don was able to quickly diagnose the problem, and was great at communicating what needed to be done with fair prices. They also installed attic vents and repaired the area around our chimney. We felt very confident in this company’s knowledge and expertise, and highly recommend them to anyone with a slate roof.

Don said he was coming on 8/15/24 at 9:00am to check out roofing problem and give estimate. I called at 9:30 and again at 11:30. I never received a call back. Don't say you are coming and then be a no-show. Very unprofessional.

What does a roof replacement cost in Greater Boston?
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Tip Top Roofing Company. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
A square is 100 sq ft of roof surface — bigger than the floor plan because of pitch and overhangs.
Estimated range
$9,000 – $18,600
Typical roofing project around $13,800
