Septic installation and pump repair have brought homeowners to Tom Howe Septic Systems in Merrimack, but two dated Google complaints describe problems with cleanup and communication. In an April 2024 review, a customer said Tom and Keith installed a new septic tank and field at a house they had purchased. The system worked, the customer said, but additional charges were communicated only after completion, fill contained trash and glass, and yard restoration was poor. They also said loam sat for more than two weeks and largely washed away in rain, and that old trash was pushed downhill during brush cleanup. A December 2023 reviewer likewise complained that their property had not been cleaned up before the company started work at a neighbor's property. Google lists a 4-star average from seven ratings. Other customers describe successful repairs and installations. In an October 2023 review, a homeowner whose septic pump had stopped working said Tom returned their call within an hour, then Tom and Keith arrived within the next hour to assess it. They ordered and installed a new pump, restoring operation. The customer praised their explanations of what they were doing and why. Older Angi accounts describe a new septic installation in September 2020 and, in April 2015, a city-sewer connection after a septic failure. The 2015 customer said Tom handled permits, Dig Safe and inspections, then later leveled their backyard and spread and seeded loam. A March 2015 reviewer described a return visit to find and repair a septic system hidden under snow. An August 2025 Google reviewer praised the company as local and conscientious. BBB lists residential and commercial septic pumping and drain-field installation and repair, gives the business an A+ grade, and says it is not accredited. Angi and HomeAdvisor describe it as family-owned. BBB lists licence number 00840 from the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services' Subsurface Systems Bureau; that is a directory-reported credential.
