Tony's Painting

A ceiling that would not stop peeling is the sort of job most painters would rather recoat than solve. In a December 2025 review, a repeat customer wrote that Tony said he could fix it — and five years on, it is still perfect. Tony's Painting works out of Vineyard Haven and trades as Tony's Painting & Remodeling: residential painting first, with the repair work that comes attached, across Martha's Vineyard and New England. Its Better Business Bureau file names owner Otoniel "Tony" Santos, puts the company at ten years in business, and carries an A+. Much of the work is for people who are not there. An October 2025 client off-island was sent videos and photos through the project; a September 2024 Thumbtack customer had a lake house exterior cleaned and stained after arranging the whole thing through the app and by text; a November 2025 homeowner had repainting, carpet removal and new flooring done around not being home. If you own a house on the island and live somewhere else, that is the part that matters. The painting comes with the rest of the house. A June 2024 reviewer had an old house repainted outside and wrote that the crew scraped the peeling paint without damaging the garden plants and left no traces behind. A November 2024 customer had a large angled ceiling drywalled, taped, mudded, primed and given two coats. A 2022 Thumbtack account describes wood rot replaced during an exterior job on a two-storey wood home, and a January 2024 reviewer had hardwood flooring installed before the interior painting. Speed runs through all of it: a May 2024 client had Tony at the house the next day with a quote on the spot, an August 2024 crew put in a ten-and-a-half-hour first day and finished several days early, and a January 2024 customer had the crew back for touch-ups at no extra charge. One account goes the other way, and it is about the paperwork rather than the painting. A June 2024 homeowner who wanted ceiling and wall repair got a visit the next day and a quote by email, then objected that it asked for a 50% deposit — which they said Massachusetts does not allow — and that the document did not carry the company's full address. Settle both before you sign: what goes down up front, and what the written quote has to say. Ratings run 4.9 from 44 on Google and 4.5 from 65 on Thumbtack. For an island house that needs paint plus the ceiling, drywall or rot repair underneath it — especially if you won't be there while it happens — this is a practical call. Pin down the deposit and the written scope first.
