Tradern is a shop, not a showroom — a Newton millwork outfit whose Google listing had a visitor spelling it out back in January 2019: not a store you can walk into to buy tools or materials, it's a workshop space for the company. What comes out of it is cabinetry, ceilings, stairwork, whole-house interior trim and commissioned furniture. David Bogue and Paul Glynn, who say they met in 1998 at ATU Connemara, own it and say they stay personally involved in every project; the company describes working with architects, designers and custom home builders across Massachusetts. BBB lists eight employees and grades the business A+, though it is not accredited. The written account of the work is thin and dated. One customer, writing in March 2015, described custom mahogany kitchen cabinetry built to a design they themselves called difficult, credited Dave Bogue with working out how to execute it, and singled out his follow-up on small problems afterwards. That is the only substantive account on file anywhere. One thing to reconcile: how long they have been at it depends on the source. The company's site says it has served the Greater Boston area since 2002, while BBB records the business as starting on 1 January 2012. The right call if you want built-to-drawing cabinetry, stairs or trim rather than a contractor to run a whole renovation. Ask to see work in the shop, and get references from projects finished in the last year or two.
