When the ice dams hit in the winter of 2026, several Peabody-area homeowners called John at U.S Home Improvement. A February 2026 Google reviewer said John answered a text on a Saturday evening, showed up a couple of hours later and worked in the dark to clear the ice and stop a leak; another that month said he came almost immediately and cleared the dams within two hours. The company says it was founded in 1978 by John Sr. and describes itself as a Peabody exterior remodeler doing additions, decks, windows, siding, roofing, doors, gutters and sunrooms. Google shows 4.6 stars from 88 ratings and HomeAdvisor 4.7 from 93. Earlier reviews describe that exterior work: in an October 2024 review, a homeowner said John's crew removed a leaking half window above a sliding door and closed the opening with matching siding outside and sheetrock inside; an August 2024 reviewer said the crew demolished and rebuilt a porch, with the estimate matching the final cost, though the start slipped two to three weeks. A May 2026 reviewer had vinyl siding repaired after a storm. Two reviews describe problems. In a September 2025 Google review, a customer said they paid a significant deposit for storm windows the previous fall and had been put off repeatedly without a definite date. In an October 2021 review, a customer described gaps of 3/4 to 1 inch in new siding and Tyvek strips left in the yard.

A few days after the large snowstorm of January 2026 I had serious ice dams that were causing water to drip into my attic as well as into my living room. I contacted John on an urgent basis, and he came to the house almost immediately. Within two hours he cleared the dams which quickly resulted in the water subsiding and stopping. With some of the coldest weather we’ve seen in years, winter of 2026 left me with some serious ice dams after nearly two feet of snow. Roofers were on high demand. I called John (a referral from my handyman) and John was able to come by quickly and spent hours getting rid of the ice dams. He was courteous, fair with pricing, and just a really nice guy. I’d definitely recommend him!
