A June 2026 reviewer had already paid two other HVAC companies a fortune, they wrote, and still had a furnace that would not stay lit. Upper Cape came out, stayed until they found the fault, fixed it — and then, when a new furnace turned out to be the answer, installed one. That story, in various forms, is most of this company's written record. The Cataumet business is built around heat pumps: ducted and ductless mini-splits, central air heat pumps and heat pump water heaters, alongside conventional furnaces, boilers, A/C and tankless units. It is a MassSave® approved contractor and part of the heat pump network, and reviewers keep mentioning that the rebate paperwork got handled for them rather than handed to them. The site says co-owners Alberto Gomez and Ryan Bagdonas started it in 2021, that Alberto is a Master Plumber with ten years in HVAC, and that it is a small family-owned shop serving Bourne, Falmouth, Mashpee and Sandwich. Across 21 Google ratings averaging five stars, two names come up in nearly every one. Alberto does the technical work — a site inspection before quoting, a humidifier added to an existing system, a defective boiler replaced by working the manufacturer rather than the customer, a gas line run to a pool heater. Ryan handles the front end: specifications, checking that a house's electrical service could carry the equipment, scheduling, the Mass Save submissions, and — one 2024 reviewer's favourite detail — the fact that "calls are answered by a human." A 2024 reviewer in Yarmouth Port described the fullest version: Fujitsu mini-splits recommended and sized for an oil-heated 1980s house, permits and an added electrical panel handled, the system explained, the cleanup flawless, and two winters later the mini-splits carrying the whole heating load. The honest caveat is depth rather than quality. Every written account sits on Google; the BBB grades the company A+ but holds no reviews, and there is nothing on the trade directories at all. Thirteen of the twenty reviews landed in the last six months, which is a strong current signal but also a young record for a company barely five years old. Records also disagree on when it started — the site says 2021, the BBB says November 2022. If you are weighing a heat pump conversion on the Upper Cape and want the Mass Save side handled properly, this is a well-matched, closely-held shop. Ask who will be on site, and get the rebate timeline in writing before the equipment is ordered.
Top notch work! Alberto and his team are amazing! When Alberto came to evaluate my situation, he explained everything well and easy to understand. Him and his team were very personable, professional, timely, the job, parts and equipment were placed and executed to my expectations. Don’t look anywhere else! I highly recommend them…100%!!!
Alberto, Ryan and the Upper Cape team are the best! Our entire experience from the first meeting to quote to order to installation and hand holding to guide us to using our new system couldn't have been better. It didn't end there either; we had a few parts issues that came up and Alberto and team were there immediately to fix the part issues. Ryan was also extremely helpful to assist in getting our MassSave rebates submitted. Thank you, Upper Cape Heating & Cooling, you have in us a customer for life!
Upper Cape H&C is an absolutely amazing company. They perform meticulous, clean , professional work. We had central AC and two mini splints installed and Alberto and his crew were in and out in less than two days . UC is an old school , honest, caring, family business that you welcome into your home. I highly recommend Upper Cape . Thank you Ryan and Alberto.
We’ve worked with a number of tradesmen since moving to the Upper Cape 4+ years ago and working with Upper Cape HC is by far our best experience. Alberto serviced both our heating system and air conditioning system and installed a humidifying system. He and his colleague were prompt, friendly and cleaned up behind themselves. And Ryan made our initial contact and scheduling so easy. She was so helpful in ordering the filters based on a photo I sent her. Upper Cape HC’s stated goal is to provide outstanding, personalized service and they have accomplished that goal.
In all my years of home and business ownership I have never experienced anyone as responsive, professional, and efficient. More than that, Alberto is just one of the nicest people you will ever meet!
