Vanguard Moving Services

Packing an entire home, holding the contents between houses and placing everything at the destination are all jobs Vanguard Moving Services customers describe. A May 2026 Google reviewer said Alex, Neil and the crew packed their home, kept the belongings in several trucks for five nights and delivered them to the new house on the sixth day. The customer praised the care taken to put things where requested. Vanguard is based in Hyannis and describes itself as a family-owned moving and storage company serving Cape Cod and the Islands, with long-distance and interstate moves as well. Its website identifies Tom Mockabee and Julie as co-owners and says Tom founded the business in 2002, although other pages give differing lengths of time in business. Google lists a 4.3-star average from 92 ratings; BBB gives the company an A+ grade and lists it as accredited. Recent praise includes furniture handling and assembly. A July 2026 reviewer singled out Melinda and Andrew for carefully delivering new furniture and assembling a complicated dining table. A June customer said the team was careful with their belongings and finished sooner than expected. In a January 2026 review, a parent described a move from Cape Cod to a daughter’s New York City apartment, praising the pickup, delivery and Julie’s patience on the phone. In November 2025, a customer said Tom visited to help plan loading a POD, and that the movers wrapped furniture, packed the kitchen and finished early. Price and follow-through have also drawn complaints. A June 2026 one-star reviewer said a 15-mile move into four rooms cost more than $4,500 at a reported $400 hourly rate. A September 2025 customer called the movers thorough but slow. In September 2023, another reviewer alleged that the price more than doubled without notice, exceeded $7,000 and that delivery took over a month after they requested their belongings. Reviews from February 2023 and December 2022 also alleged charges above the quoted price. An April 2024 customer reported irreplaceable items lost or damaged and criticized the owner’s response. A July 2023 reviewer reported a broken television, additional charges and rude treatment. Customers writing in May and July 2022 described a delayed arrival at the wrong address and a missed moving appointment, respectively. Other dated accounts describe careful handling of difficult items: a June 2024 reviewer said a baby grand piano was padded, transported and reassembled without damage.
