Verdan Carpentry

Verdan Carpentry is a Lowell carpentry outfit with very little published about it. Its Google page shows a 5.0 average, and that average rests on three ratings. The three reviews describe carpentry work of the everyday kind — cabinets set and aligned, flooring laid, a deck built — and they agree on the same points: the job finished on time, the site left clean, and communication clear from start to finish. All three arrived within about three weeks of one another over a single winter, and they follow the same shape: the same opening, the same order of praise, the same sign-off. A new company asking its first customers for reviews at once produces exactly that pattern, so it is not by itself a warning. What it does mean is that one short stretch of three reviews is the whole history available. So treat this as an unproven shop rather than a bad one. Nothing in what is published counts against the work; there simply is not enough of it to tell you how they perform across a year of jobs, different trades, or a project that goes wrong. If you are considering them, do the checking a longer public record would otherwise do for you: ask for the Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration number and a current certificate of insurance, ask to see two or three finished jobs, and call the references yourself. For a small, well-defined piece of work — a cabinet run, a floor, a deck — that may be enough. For a large or phased project, weigh them against a contractor with a deeper history.
