Weather Guard Roofing

I was fleeced by James Franco at Weather Guard Roofing for a commercial building. Note this is not Weatherguard Roofing - but a non-authorized use of the name that includes a fake logo that Mr. Franco uses that actually belongs to Weatherguard - a company that makes floor mats for vans. He made all kinds of 15 year full warranty promises and boastful claims of offices all over the South & East - I later found out were all just mailbox/phone line services. He took $11,000 from me- coated the roof and it leaked as soon as the rain started. He sent his crew back out and the recoated it - and it leaked again as soon as the rain came. My third call - he was in the hospital and said he would call me back. He never did. I left messages at all his "offices" and sent certified letters - nothing. If anyone knows how to reach this scam artist, I would love to join forces and take this guy to task. I have found several reviews online that have the same in the hospital story element.

I had a similar experience from Paul. Franco stood me up 5 times then slapped the same sealer on my residential chimney and it looks awful. I had a leak around the flashing. He soaked me for 2800 for a 500$ job and promised he would give me money back. I am not holding my breath but considering small claims court. He is a professional scammer. Excuses range from “ my wife is having open heart surgery, James was up all night while his daughter is giving birth, now he is in the hospital?? Unlikely. I never got a guarantee in writing. He offered me a 7 year guarantee but never gave me anything. I had another roofer come out and he was appalled by the shoddy work and would not touch the chimney. Still waiting to hear from him. Do not under any circumstances hire this man. He is a horrible human.

This is either a very poorly run company or a scam, and I’m increasingly thinking it’s the latter. Weather Guard responded promptly to my call to repair a roof leak and was at my home within a couple of hours. James Franco quickly diagnosed the problem and set his two-man crew to work repairing it. The roofers appeared to know what they were doing. The cost was quite reasonable. I was impressed enough by their responsiveness and Franco’s apparent knowledge of roofing that I took him up on the offer of a $1,500, 15-year warranty on the entire roof. I figured that a single repair would more than compensate for the cost of the warranty. That’s when things began to go bad. The crew’s first efforts failed to stop the leak. I called James and he promptly dispatched the crew again. This time they slathered large amounts of a tar-like substance on top of the shingles and over the flashing around the skylights. The next time it rained, though, the leak was still there. And a section my roof was now covered with an unsightly glop of sealant. I called Franco again. He answered and said he would be out within a day or two. He never showed. I called again and he made the same promise. Still a no-show. The third time I called he texted back that he was at the hospital and would call me in a couple of hours. He never did. My fourth, fifth and sixth calls, which were made over the course of a month, were unreturned. At this point I can only assume that I am out the cost of the repairs as well as the bogus warranty. I recommend you avoid doing business with this company.

Hired James to repair a leak. After he canceled on me five times he showed up the sixth time. I should have said no. Initially estimated 2000 to repair a leak. Price increased to 2800 on the day he showed up. He slapped some chimney sealer around the chimney and skylights and it took him about 2 hours. The job is sloppy and horrible looking. The sealant costs about 200$. When I told him I wanted a refund he needed to call his lawyer. Have not heard back. He made a 2600$ profit for 2 hrs work and did an inappropriate job. No other roofer will touch the work to correct it. I was promised a lifelong warranty and still have not gotten one. Weatherguard is a national company and James Franco is NOT associated with that firm. Feel totally deceived and ripped off. Do not hire this man!!! Wish I could post a picture!

They were excellent. Higher quality than anyone on Cape Anne at half the cost. Refreshing!
