West Plumbing Heating Co

West Plumbing Heating Co is a one-man-led outfit in Harvard, where owner Richard "Rick" West has held a Massachusetts plumbing license (registry-verified active, #10644-PL-M) since the company's start in 1984 — 42 years now, with new ownership and incorporation dating to 1988. What customers keep coming back to is Rick himself. Across five-star reviews running from 2022 through late 2025, the same account repeats: he shows up personally, handles odd systems (one reviewer credits him with servicing a composting toilet setup at a summer cabin), and prices fairly. A late-2025 review called him "conscientious, responsive and skilled" and noted that since plumbers aren't cheap, he's worth picking. On Nextdoor in late 2025, a longtime customer answering a Harvard neighbor's request for a licensed, insured plumber named Rick West directly, saying they'd used him "several times over the years." The Better Business Bureau lists West Plumbing and Heating, Inc. as A+ rated and accredited since 2017, with services spanning plumbing basics — toilets, leak detection, pipe and water-line repair — plus heating-side work like water heaters, radiant heat, and boiler repairs and cleaning, backed by 24/7 emergency response. The BBB page also shows a second license number, 19784, alongside the state-verified one, which is typical when a business and its licensed individual carry separate registrations.
