3E Moving & Storage is a family-owned North Chelmsford, MA moving company β BBB rates it A+ and has accredited it since 2019, and on Google it holds a 4.8β average across 32 ratings. Owner Michael Ellis Sr. is named repeatedly across reviews, and a recurring theme is that he or another owner shows up personally for the in-home estimate rather than sending a salesperson β reviewers across 2025 and 2026 describe free, accurate on-site quotes and final bills that landed at or under the estimate. The written record is deep and consistent: 30 Google reviews since 2024, the overwhelming majority five stars, describing everything from routine local moves to more demanding jobs β moving a full-size upright piano alongside a storage-unit clearout, a five-stop move with partial packing spread over two days, and a household hauled out before a floor refinishing. Reviewers keep circling back to the same specifics: crews that show up early, wrap and protect floors and furniture, and come in under the quoted price rather than over it. A recent Reddit poster reported a similar experience, saying their final bill landed 30% below the quote. Two accounts complicate that picture. In a June 2026 review, a customer says a 200+ year-old grandfather clock β which the owner had inspected and assured would be fine to move and store β arrived damaged, and that raising an insurance claim led to an angry call from the owner denying it had ever happened before. And in a 2025 review, a manager at a storage facility described the crew as disrespectful of the site's climate-controlled-facility rules, blocking an entrance others needed to use. Two more things worth knowing before calling: as of this scan, the company's own homepage had been compromised β its service descriptions and testimonials were replaced with injected online-casino spam text in several languages, so treat 3emoving.com's homepage copy with caution. And the company's history doesn't fully line up across sources β BBB records it as started in 1984 (42 years in business), while its own About page says it was established in 1990 with '30+ years,' and another part of the site claims 36 years.
βWe used 3E out of North Chelmsford for a move from Lexington to Marblehead.. [https://www.3emoving.com/contact/](https://www.3emoving.com/contact/) Family owned. They actually come to your place for the estimate and lower than the other two companies quoted. Really fast and efficient on moving day and the final bill was 30% less than the estimate.β

βIve used Isaacs moving and 3E moving and storage. Both very good experiences. Isaacs is based out of stoughton and 3E westfordβ
3E came recommended by a neighbor, and after a thorough walkthrough and very reasonable estimate, we gave them a shot. Moving is a lot of work! Outsourcing this part can be stressful. 3E came in and took care of business. Frankie and his crew were kind, careful, quick, and very easy to work with. We were beyond pleased with the way which they handled our move and would recommend them to anyone in need of movers. Thanks to the team for making this part one of the easiest of all.
I was very happy with my experience with 3E Moving! Charlie, Alex, and Nick were friendly, professional, patient, and a pleasure to work with. They completed the move quickly and efficiently while treating all of our belongings with great care and respect. They made what can be a stressful process feel smooth and hassle-free. I wholeheartedly recommend 3E Moving to anyone looking for a reliable and professional moving company!
We have hired 3E several times, once to move a piano, once to move all of our furniture out of the house before we had our floors refinished a d lately for they've to our new home. We won't use anyone else. They are careful, fast and pleasant to work with. They setup our furniture at the new house, had suggestions about placement and happily rearranged placement. We won't use anyone else!
Best experience with a moving company ever! From the start they were responsive and flexible with our schedule. The team that showed up were absolutely fantastic! They were quick but at the same time took the very best care with all of our items! They wrapped and protected everything that needed it and when we got to the new house they went above and beyond making sure everything was in place. They are so prepared that you may feel underprepared so a hint to all future customers, when you label your bags and boxes donβt just put whatβs inside but also what room you want it in at your new place. We didnβt do that and they were so great and patient as we decided on the spot! Hopefully not moving again anytime soon but would call 3E again in a heartbeat! Already referred them out to a friend and a co-worker! Thank you 3E!
DO NOT PURCHASE INSURANCE. We had a 3 part move which involved many antiques. One of these was a 200+ year old grandfather clock which Mike, the owner, witnessed was running in perfect order. I was assured on this visit that moving and storing this would be no problem. "We do it all the time". Once moved to our house we discovered the clock had significant damage from the moving and/or storage. I asked to submit a claim on insurance. Several emails and calls to check on status of the claim, I received an angry call from Mike who repeatedly insisted this hadn't happened before. When I couldn't explain how the damage happened, I suggested he contact the Antique Clock Restorer we had hired. "I'll get back to you" It has been a few months...still waiting. I'm left with the question, why did we pay for insurance. Customer service....poor at best.
