A&D Sheet Metal has been installing forced hot air heating and air conditioning out of 15 Farwell Street in Waltham since the 1970s, run by Arthur Dubois with a handful of employees. The name is literal: the company designs the system, fabricates the ductwork and installs it, for remodels, new residential construction with builders, and commercial spaces. The clearest picture of what they actually do comes from the permits. Forty-two permitted projects run through Newton, Waban, West Newton, Auburndale, Brookline, Belmont, Weston, Somerville and Arlington - two furnaces and air conditioning systems with condensers and refrigeration piping in Newton Center, four furnaces and four AC systems with supply and return ductwork on a $60,000 Brookline job, heat pumps swapped in for old air conditioning in Newton, and small jobs like reworking a single supply outlet or a bathroom exhaust. Direct customer accounts are scarce. In a 2024 Waltham discussion a homeowner wrote that they had had good experiences with the company, which replaced their entire HVAC system apart from the ductwork and also helped them through the Mass Save HEAT loan paperwork. That is the only outside voice available, which is why no star rating is published here. Two things to check. The Better Business Bureau grades the company A+ while stating on the same page that it is not a BBB accredited business - separate facts that read as one. And a permit directory shows a City of Newton sheetmetal contractor registration and a Massachusetts refrigeration contractor licence (#RC1598) as inactive or cancelled, alongside a state Sheet Metal Business licence it says it verified active in February 2026; that is the directory's bookkeeping, not the state's, so confirm current licensing with the Commonwealth before work starts. If your job is a ducted system - a furnace and central air replacement, a new-construction install, or ductwork that needs reworking around an older house - this is a long-established ducted-HVAC specialist with a substantial permit history in exactly those towns. Ask for two or three recent references and get the licence details and scope in writing.
