All My Sons Moving & Storage of RI describes itself on the BBB as a mover of household goods, local and long distance. It holds 4.6 stars from 2,623 Google ratings and 4.7 stars from 142 ratings on HomeAdvisor. One customer booked a Mass to RI move with six days notice; in pouring rain and high winds the movers loaded the house in about 3 hours, and one of them carried a large safe by himself. A customer whose move came with ninety degrees and three flights of stairs said James and Isaiah made the challenging pieces of furniture look easy and everything arrived safely. A customer said a team under Joe's direction wrapped and boxed what needed it, put the bed back together and broke nothing. A customer said they were told on moving day that an extra stop would cost $209, that a mover reassembled their bed frame incorrectly, and that the company offered $75 back. A customer moving to a sixth floor said the movers damaged a new dresser and the complex's walls and carpet, and that the online claims process offered $140 on a move over $2.2K. A 2024 Reddit commenter wrote that the company ruined their brand new mattress and paid not even a fraction of what it was worth.
“Whatever you do, DO NOT use all my sons moving. They ruined my brand new mattress and gave me not even a fraction of what it was worth.”
Was so excited to use them because over the phone for the quote was amazing. I itemized everything I would be moving and even asked if it would be okay if we made a stop along the way to drop off my dining room table to store at my moms. They assured me it would be fine and that they would let the drivers know, just remind them. I called twice since this initial call to remind them and ask a few other questions. Again customer service seemed great and I was excited to use them as they came recommended to me. Day of the move, I was informed that I would need to pay an additional $209 in order to make the extra stop along the way, I said forget it, I'll just handle it myself. They got to moving the other items, one guy was amazing, he was wrapping, moving and hustling. The other was disassembling items. Now I informed them that only my son's bed and the dining room table (that they are now not taking) are the only items that need to be disassembled. The gentleman proceeded to disassemble my bed frame, which was not needed by I am like ok he's going to put back together so who cares. We get to the new place, same set up, one is hustling and bustling and the other is assembling. Now after I pay, and unwrap everything, I am looking at my bed and something is very off... thought it was my eyes but nope, after I sit and almost have the bed collapse I realize my bed no longer fits on the frame. So I take the mattress off and box springs to find that he reassembled my bed incorrectly which is why it almost collapsed. I call back immediately to see if he can come back and readjust it because I haven't moved my tools yet. The guy on the phone tells me he'll call right back, he's going to have them turn around or see if they can. waiting and waiting and waiting, finally I call back and get a different man who tells me well he noted your file that the main office will give you a call tomorrow to resolve the issue, they aren't coming back. So now, I am sitting here having paid 830$, with no bed to sleep in. Luckily, I was able to call and pay my maintenance technician to fix it for me (what's more money spent at this point *she says in sarcasm*). Then the charging port to my couch piece is broken... yay another $250. Next day comes and no phone call. Now on Tuesday, I am calling because at this point I want some type of money off my bill since I put out extra on top of the 830$ and tip that I gave the movers themselves. The guy basically asks me how much did you pay your maintenance tech? Told them 100$. And even though my complaint went further than the bed frame with the lack of communication and care for my furniture items he offers 75$ for a refund if I promise to give a good review. Well promise broken, sorry not sorry, I guess all moving companies are scams. Oh well.
Professional workers and a top shelf experience.
Buyer Beware. This company has zero accountability or transparency. When I called the office about damage and some other issues, the woman let me know they were closing soon and reopen on Monday. I received a complaint form. Separately, I received the website for submitting a claim. I never heard back regarding the information on the form I submitted. I did get a $140 offer from the online process (move total was over 2.2K) What was not addressed: 1. When arriving I informed the movers I was doing a walkthrough, they shrugged me off and said they would stay in the truck (whatever). I come back and say let’s get going and they say that they WANT TO DO A WALKTHROUGH. 2. I am on the 6th floor. Ended up them just wasting more time. Danny, the mover, did not like the option of parking or the rules of the building I.e. propping doors. He decided to drive on the terrace of the property and unload there. There were signs marking do not enter. Him trying to “see other entrances” took 50-55 minutes. They get paid $209/hour. I would suggest just saying “Hey - this is the parking, these are the rules, you gotta do it this way.” OH WAIT….. I DID. 3. Moving on, they were wrapping up and were about to leave abruptly- they said, look around you have everything right?” I said where is my dresser. THIS GUY totaled this BRAND NEW 9 Month old dresser. He WAS TRYING TO LEAVE IT IN THE F LOBBY AND NOT BRING IT UP. I AM FURIOUS ABOUT THE UNPROFESSIONALISM! He stated “well you had one leg that comes off” which I told them about prior to moving it. LOOK AT THE PHOTOS. THIS COMPANY THREW PENNIES AT ME TO HAVE THIS FIXED. Danny was taking photos - bending the wood- trying to make it not look bad. Both Danny and Dominic didn’t even tell me they broke and ripped off the bottom wood. I had to bring it up. I’m going to pause on going further- you should get the point. 4. Additionally I asked him to leave the keys on the counter. Guess who left? Did you guess Tammy? Or Danny? Guess what -I was overcharged by 45 minutes. INCLUDING the time for them to return my keys. 5. OH - the fun doesn’t stop there! THEY DID PROPERTY DAMAGE! Guess who got to see security footage and now is getting a bill with their complex?! 🙋♀️ You can see clearly them ramming their dolly into the walls with my belongings and ripping the carpet and leaving some drywall scraps. So if you’re at this part of the review - you may ask- why two stars and not just one? I did have them call me on two separate occasions to go through my inventory. I stated on both of those calls I will be moving to the 6th floor. The customer service said “no problem, we will wrap everything and you can keep everything in your draws.” Two take aways here 1. CLEARLY THAT WAS A LIE 2. Movers acted shocked that I was on the sixth floor and acted as if they were unable to complete the move because of this. Lastly, if this was Dominics first day, you shouldn’t charge customers for two trained movers. He clearly needed significant hand holding and direction. If your going to train someone, don’t send them with an employee who says to the customer that he will “take the blame” (when it came to parking, breaking rules of the complex). I should have hired the two guys who chained smoke cigarettes from my last move. I just couldn’t find their information. Buyer beware….. your proud first bedroom furniture purchase will become trash. You will get fined for property damage the mover does. Their claims department will send you two separate claim reports (pdf form/ website) and WILL NOT cross reference. The cherry on top- they’re asking for reviews of their business via their email marketing within 24 hours. Then they send it again. Meanwhile I have to wait until their office reopens in order to submit my claim. These automated emails can easily be shut off. Any true business would “toggle” this off and not send to someone who you know had a terrible experience.
With six days notice they were able to set us up for a Mass to RI move. Day before the the move they call to confirm that I still want to move even with the nor'easter storm rolling in. We both confirmed. The movers arrived on time and ready to work. These two power-houses climbed out of the truck and got to work. Pouring rain and high winds, nothing was stopping these two. The entire house loaded into the truck in about 3 hours time. 50 minute ride turned into 70 minutes due to the weather conditions. Once to the new house I had to force them to eat lunch with us. Then they emptied the truck, carried everything to the proper rooms, even helped clean up and take away the trash such as plastic wraps. I couldn't recommend All My Sons Moving anymore, 5 stars all the way. One of the guys manhandled and carried a large safe by himself. (It took two guys to deliver this safe one year earlier) Bad news for them is I bought this house with intent to stay here forever, good news for them is I'll recommend them to everyone I know who's looking for movers.
The office was helpful and got be scheduled within a reasonable time. The movers were nice guys and very efficient.
